Getting a REALLY messed up image when trying to play 480i via HDMI from my Motoroloa DCT6416 III DVR. I can play 480i from the same source just fine over component. Also, 480i over HDMI works fine on another display, so I've concluded that this is a display issue.
Any other HC5000 owners out there with this issue that can lend some insight?

What version of firmware have you got.
I think version 2.0 had problems with 480i.

Thanks. I have version 3.0. Is there somewhere that documents the contents of each upgrade?

There's not really much information around. Cine4home may be the best place. My understanding is that FW 3.0 had the fix that I was thinking off, whihc improved film mode de-interlacing with SD sources. Sounds like yours is another problem, though.

I probably have the same problem.
Any digital(HDMI/DVI) interlaced signal I feed to the HC5000 is completely messed up. It's best described as if the lines are de-interlaced in the wrong direction(up instead of down and vice versa).
I don't think it is a firmware issue since I have FW 3.0 as well and I haven't heard anyone but you reporting similar issue.

Actually, you might be right. It was the strangest thing...I was just setting it up to take a pic to provide a little more clarity, only this time I got a working signal. I'm not sure what I did differently. The only thing I can think of that I might have done was run it through a Gefen switcher first. This time, I connected it directly to the wall plate that runs HDMI to my projector and it worked just fine. I even double checked the info section on the menu to make sure, and the HC5000 says it's getting a 720x480i signal. Bizarre.
Anyway, thanks all for looking into it. This might be a case of user error.
Bertilsson, are you running your signal through any type of switcher?

I did some further testing and to my surprise the problem is actually limited to my computers output(nvidia 7800GT) and my HDTV-receiver(Humax CXHD-1000C).
1920x1080i@29.97/33.72 from playstation 3 via HDMI produced a perfect image without any de-interlacing problems what so ever.
