Purchased my Panasonic DMR-EH55 Friday. It hangs when plugged to my Scientific-Atlanta 3250HD cable box here in Las Vegas, through Cox cable. I called Panasonic and they said there are issues with this model and the 8300 Scientific-Atlanta boxes. They are sending me a firmware update.

However, I downloaded the only firmware update for the DMR-EH55 that was on their site. Didn't help with the fact that it takes 1 minute, 19 seconds to power up. Doesn't go into Navigator unless I press the Navigator button several times. It is slow as molasses in pretty much all functions, and at times hangs when the Skip (1 minute forward) button is pressed several times. It also doesn't play certain recorded DVD's, which my Toshiba DVD player plays without problems.

However... when I plug the cable directly into the Panasonic, bypassing the cable box, it works as it should with normal response times and functions in a timely matter.

I have two choices, forget about high definition channels and return the box to Cox, or live with this dreadful problem. Anyone else experience this, or have a fix?

Thanks,

Sounds as if your EH55 has the "DST bug" described here? (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=846731)
