I'm getting overloaded with remotes. I want something that will control most of my components functions.

I'm hoping somone may be able to recommend a device that can hanlde what I need, that isn't overkill. My system isn't that complex, so I won't need the fanciest thing out there.

TV - Panny TH509UK
Receiver - Onkyo TR-674
Cable - Scientific Atlanta HD DVR 8300HD
DVD Player - Currently an old Sony, but about to be Toshiba HD A2, or an OPPO if I don't decide on the Toshiba.

TV - I only have 1 input on the TV active, and there are no speakers on it, so I don't need much control there. POWER and ASPECT RATIO controls is about all I'd need, because that's all I use the remote for now. It would be nice to have control over basic setup, but I can always fall back to the original remote for that.

Receiver - This is where I'd imagine things could get tricky. Obviously I'd need POWER, VOLUME, INPUT SELECTOR, MUTE. I'd like it to handle listening modes, and a few other basic things. I don't know how smart a remote could be.

Cable - Again, basics, POWER, CHANNEL, GUIDE. I'd like to control the DVR functions too, with the basic controls, PLAY, FFW, RRW, STOP, REC. LIST to view what's recorded, and the directional pad to navigate the guide and lists. The ASPECT RATIO or ZOOM function would be nice too, since I use it quite a bit to fill up the tv with letterboxed SD programming.

DVD - Very simple here, POWER, DVD CONTROLS, MENU, etc. All of my other remotes can control the player, so I doubt a universal is a problem.

I just want a remote for day to day operation that my girlfriend can handle with no confusion.

I've heard good things about Harmony, but I don't want overkill, and I want something solid, that I won't have to call tech support for.

Thanks for any recommendations. This would be my first consolidated remote. I've always had a group lying around.

I always thought it would be funny to velcro all 5+ remotes to a wood plank with handles, and label it "UNIVERSAL REMOTE".

The Harmony are excellent remotes. There are obviously cheaper and simpler remotes (like the ones marketed as "One for All". But a good remote with LCD makes it much easier to operate.

I second the suggestion for the Harmony line of remotes. They are very simple to use. Another popular line of remotes is the URC line.
