opinions please.
Will I lose quality of picture if I transfer VHS tapes via cables (I assume component) to a DVD recorder / player or would the quality be better on a combo player?
I need to transfer about 20 hours VHS tapes to DVD, and after that I never intend to mess with VHS again. I also do not intend to, but may end up recording other material off TV ocasionally; we use the SAT DVR as a Tivo more than anything, we don't keep recorded material very long. More likely I will record / transfer from a high def cam corder. So a quality DVD player is a must, as it will be used mostly as a DVD player. And I don't want to lose my DVD-Audio and SACD on the DVD player. I could have an out side firm transfer the material, but then I lose the ability to edit the tapes.
