I appreciate that some people may want them, but I'm really tired of studios charging higher rates for these HDDVD/DVD combo dics and not releasing a HDDVD only disc of the same movie. Do you think they're a good deal. Am I being a cheap-skate?

I think that the HDDVD/Bluray discs are over priced in the first place. When I see the HDDVD combo priced quite a bit higher than the already high regular HDDVDs and even the same bluray disc it makes me even MORE frustrated. The pricing structure for media should be more like the following:

PSP 10.99( low res, low quality... It should be cheaper)
DVD 15.99 ( medium quality, new release price. Older movies should be cheaper)
Bluray/HDDVD 19.99 ( This seems like the mass market price point)
HD Combo 24.99 ( For those that want something to play everwhere)

Companies, price the media like that and watch your sales really grow. I stopped collecting DVDs when I read that HD disc were going to be available. I did that 2 years ago. I used to purchase 5+ DVDs a month. Now, I purchase 1 every 3 or 4 months... I have the 360 add on, and I own 5 HDDVDs. I appreciate the higher resolution and better sound, but DVDs have come down in price and the HD media should not be increased so much. I will not buy movies in the combo format. Frankly, I'm leary of further encouraging the price point that is currently being set. I'll wait for sales and good deals. Until then, I have 500 plus DVDs and I'll go to the movies.

Everyone, I am being too harsh?

I agree, I use to be a bigger combo fan, but the price is irritatting. If the price of the combo was the same as the non-combo it wouldn't be a big deal, but lots of B&M stores are selling combo formats at full MSRP.

$39.99 for Children of Men @ Target
$39.99 for Jet Li's Fearless @ Best Buy
Those prices are ridculous

You certainly are welcome to your opinion and posting it...but no reason EVER to start a new thread on combos

Really what more can be disected on this topic? Why start a whole new thread?....why not just add your thoughts to one of the many existing threads?

It's almost guaranteed anything discussed has already been discussed in any of the above threads....at this point a generic combo thread is no different another another Friday the 13th movie...it's all redundant

Here's a generic general search using "combo" as the search word
