I listen to music in 2.1 and movies in 5.1 I have paradigm studio 20 v3 mains and the cc 570 as a center. I want a sub that will fit in a small location (13.5" x 17" as wide as it needs to be. to cover a small room around 10' x 15'. I'm after good bass for music and great rumble and explosions for movies. I can up my budget a little.
I would like to buy locally (Concord , Ca ) but I will order online for the right sub.
Locally I can get a:
Martin Logan Dynamo 10"
Defnitive Prosub 800
and someone here recomended a Rocket ulw-10 sub and provided a link.
Anyone have any suggestion or input?

What is the 13.5" measurement? Height?
What is your budget? $500?

The 13.5" is the max height. $500 is not a hard number, but is the ballpark number.

Not much room...the ML or one of the little Velos, Mini-vee or SPL8, 10 or 12 (way outside $500 for that one). If you can find a couple of inches, the SB12+ at 14x14 would give you excellent performance for close to you budget ~ $700.

Do you think the velodynes are that much better then definitive? I think a few will fit...like the mini vee, the spl 1000r, dd-10. I just don't know the prices. They seem to carry them at fry's. So I can buy them asap. I am putting my cabinet up on thursday night and hope to have all components then. The sub is the last piece. What is the best small under 1000$ sub?

If there is a Tweeters near you try there, they have a going out of business sale here on the west coast. Yesterday I bought two ML Grotto subs for just over $1K which is over 50% off. I did compare the minivee to the Grotto and SPL1000. The Grotto was nice and tight and on the same track the minivee went Blah,Blah,Blah. SPL1000 was much better than minivee which is odd because from the outside they look nearly the same. Grotto compared to SPL1000 was much closer but I still prefered ML based on looks. I just measured my Grotto and it's about 15" high, I would go for the SPL1000 if you need really small. The minivee was $399 which is 50% off and I think the SPL1000 was around $599 or so, can't remember exactly but it was also 50% off. They also carry ML Dynamo and Abyss and others. They're going fast though.

Hi,
Thanks for the info, but the nearest tweeter is 400 miles away according to their store locater. But its nice to hear that the spl1000 is small and sounds great.
