Does anyone have any opinions on the Sony SA-WM500 subwoofer? It is rated at 6ohms, 150 watts. I was just wondering why it is 6ohms and not 8ohms? Any opinions?

Thanks.

The voice coil presents a nominal 6 Ohms load. Why not eight, the plate amp will give more power @ 6 Ohms VS 8 Ohms while the 6 Ohms load is still an easy load for just about any amp.

And about my opinion, since we are talking Sony subs...I better keep it to myself.

Hey, its costs $228 canadian. My room is 22x 13 so its not a huge room or anything. I am just looking for a good subwoofer. I was checking out a Velodyne dps-10b, but its $400, and thats out of my price range at the moment. I guess i'll just wait for a good deal

I would seriously look at AV123 X-sub or HSU's smaller STF subs. Stick a fork in Sony for subs.

Hi

If you can manage the X-Sub, I highly recommend it. I am waiting for an X-Sub in Rosa Diamond Palisander.
