Great news! This is really cool movie that I will be buying. Even my wife enjoyed it!

I still don't understand the need to make this a combo disc. Especially since there are not one but two SD DVD versions already being released on the same day.

That's funny, so am I.

I just cancelled our land-line telephone service and our babies diaper service, negotiated a better price for our internet and HD cable, and fired our landscaper. :D

Is it now safe to say TotalHD is a casualty of war (even though it never actually saw true duty)?

All the announcements at CES pointed towards a winter '07 spring '08 time frame for the first appearance of TotalHD disks from Warner. Did that change somewhere along the way? Because I never expected to see it this soon.

I still expect to see TotalHD, but not until after Blu-ray's PIP functionality is mandated. It'll probably be next year when we see it. Hopefully by that time they'll have it capable of being dual-layered and the production costs whittled down so it's no more expensive than a current combo disc.

I'm still expecting TotalHD discs to appear. When they sell better than either HD DVD or Blu-Ray only disc other studios will jump on the TotalHD bandwagon

They're going to release a couple of THD discs just for prides sake. Count on it.

My deepest condolences.

You have to get it on HD DVD. The movie was on par with the first Matrix in pure awe appeal. :)

I still don't understand the need to make this a combo disc. Especially since there are not one but two SD DVD versions already being released on the same day.

So HD DVD fans like myself can enjoy this movie in different locations in the same house without having to upgrade every single viewing location. That just isn't economically viable for very HD DVD user and I'm glad they are addressing this with combo discs, which I myself fully support. For example - My living room is where my HD DVD player is located and my SD DVD player is in the bedroom. Now I can take the same movie and enjoy it on two different players without having to purchase it twice.

So please show some patience, while your house maybe be fult tilt HD compatible, most of us haven't caught up with you. Remember less than 1% of consumers even buy HD DVD's or Blu Ray's.

This is indeed a very expensive hobby...thought I could save up now that I paid off my ride.

So where's the TotalHD? ;)

I also skipped the theater and waited for this movie to come out on HD-DVD before seeing it, and like I knew it would be it was a good decision. This should be a great disk.

I've been excited about this ever since I first (http://www.eyecravedvd.com/article.php?story=20070411113148934) found out it was coming. I loved it in theatre and only expect it to look better in 1080p.

Man, I totally hear you on this. The cost of a combo is somewhat annoying, but I have 5 DVD players and only one of them is HD. I don't always want to watch where the HD player is. Right now, I like combo's.

it's a nice argument, but let me ask you...after you've
1. paid all of that money for hd compliance
2. reaped the benefits of it
would you really ever watch that same move on an sd setup? I know that I refuse to watch any movie without my HT. it just isn't the same. if the combo disks cost anything extra (which they may not; I don't know), then I think at the very least, the studios should release a cheaper, strictly hd-dvd disk. it seems to me that the combo mostly benefits the outliers (those who don't have hd-dvd, but are willing to pay much more for the disk as an investment, or those who do have hd-dvd that can live with not using it 100% of the time).
