Hello I'm having a problem with my nearly perfect square room. I was wondering if you could take a look at this and give me some advice.

This leads me to my next question - for those in the know - do you think mounting this to my front wall (behind the speakers) at ear level would solve the problem as well?

Bass traps work best in corners because that's where the standing wave maximal develops. The center of 2 boundaries is the least effective place for a bass trap. You can of course use any "corner", such as at your front wall at the floor/wall. That would be out of sight and should still work as well. Or you can mount it up at the ceiling/wall "corner".
