Hi, will someone be able to help me?

I want to buy Fluorescent Lighting Fixtures that look modern and upto date to go in a HC room i will be making in the summer. I wish to buy the ones which would take tube lighting or the Fluorescent light bulbs as they are energy efficiant and produce alot of natural looking light.

I know what you are thinking, why would you want light in a HC room, the reason is that it will be both a HC room, Chill out room, socialising area and study area (Alot i know)

Please could someone tell me of any websies that have these or any places would sell them.

Please explain what an "HC" room is? That'll help!!

You can use any available light fixture sold in the big box stores that take regular light bulbs and put in compact flourescent bulbs. This way you can get fixtures that will meet you decorating needs and get the energy savings.

I have a problem with CF (and fluorescents in general) with noise, lack of dimmability and light quality. LED lights will be on the market in the US shortly.

For websites, there's Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com), Lowes (http://www.lowes.com), Elite Fixtures (http://www.elitefixtures.com), Lamps Plus (http://www.lampsplus.com) and a bunch more. I've only purchased online from HD, though; I have no experience with the others.

It's any store whose primary architectural feature is that they look like a big ugly box-- Walmart, K-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, etc.

As far as i am aware LED lighting do not produce much light, can i ask how you got your information that they will be out this year? i have herd of the philips LED Light bulb in production but that is it.

It was from a website (that I didn't bookmark) from the Netherlands (IIRC) of company that's shipping a high-lumen E27 lamp in Europe (not Philips). They didn't have an English page, so I had to read it in German (my German is terrible, BTW). They claimed Q3 shipping to North America. That may have just been corporate fluff, but if they're already shipping in Europe, I only see the Philips/Epistar lawsuit as a barrier here, and I don't know if that'd even effect this particular company. That is, I haven't really been following it other than to believe that a relatively moderate cost LED product should be on the market this year in the US.

However, they're too expensive in my opinion. For instance, a 6 inch fixed trim downlight is over $150. They save about 50 watts over an incandescent, but even with the extremely expensive electricity in CT, there's too long of a time for return on investment.

Noise, dimmability, and light quality are a function of cheap fixtures and cheap ballasts. These fixtures can be easily dimmed (Lutron makes some very nice dimming ballasts) and architectural grade fixtures have none of the problems noted. D6500 high CSI luminaries are available from many source.

LED will be the future but still have light color matters to be resolved.

Dennis-- have you seen any dimmable E27 fluorescent lamps? I've looked retail sans success, but if there's something that's available to the trade, I'd still be able to get ahold of them.

And are there any fluorescents that won't mess with my Strat? :)

I know they have various solutions for that category...whether or not they currently have a solution for E27, I don't know if it is released yet.
