"Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced a rare street date advancement for the upcoming HD DVD combo release of 'Dead Silence,' which will now street two weeks ahead of schedule.

First announced late last month for a July 10 release, the studio has decided to move the horror flick up to June 26.

No reason was given for the switch, but now fans of the evil puppet epic won't have to wait as long for the feature-packed combo release.

Specs remain the same as originally announced, as does the disc's suggested $39.98 list price.

Full specs, including box cover art, can be found in our HD DVD Release Schedule. We've also adjusted the listing to reflect the new June 26 street date."

It would be an added bonus if Universal was to release all day and date movies 2 weeks before the DVD. Wishful thinking i know, but a boy can dream can't he.

I've always thought that would be a good strategy to help the format prosper. But what do I know? I'm the same person who thinks it would make more sense for studios to release their biggest movies right away instead of waiting for a certain amount of people to own players. I mean wouldn't those big movies SELL those players? But no, apparently my strategies do not make sense.

I've got this on preorder. It's nice to hear of a title bumped ahead for a change.

I saw it and thought it wasn't bad (much better than the american version of The Ring series)

I never even heard of it, it's nice they're releasing it early and all, nothing wrong with another title hitting the street, but seriously, I'd rather they stick to quality titles, less is sometimes more as the saying goes.

Ouch (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/dead_silence/) :(
