View Full Version : Any multi-voltage plasma TVs that can handle PAL/NTSC/SECAM available in N. America?

Friend of mine just found out he's to be transferred to Europe soon (Ireland or France--doesn't know which yet) and he was about to drop some coin on a plasma. He asked me if he should still buy one since they're cheaper over here (and shipping for him will be free). I told him I thought he could find a plasma that can handle the different signals (even if there is no PAL tuner built in) but I don't about multi-voltage units. As far as I understand it, a voltage transformer would, in the long run, not be viable as the frequency cycle does not change in such a device so as a long-term solution, it's not effective (maybe there are industrial units that would work, but that would cost more than the TV, I suspect).

So, are there any such plasmas (or LCDs) on this side of the pond?

I bought my Fujitsu P42VHA30WS two years ago and multi-voltage with PAL/SECAM/NTSC was part of the reason. I believe the current Fujitsu models (see http://www.plasmavision.com) also have this capability. And the Panasonic Commercial models are worth checking out.
