Hey all,
So, I've got three weeks in Denver (visiting from Canada). Where are some of the best places to pick up HD DVDs? I'm thinking of placing an amazon.com order, and getting it shipped to my company office here, but I'd like to pick up some discs locally as well. My office is near the airport, so I'd prefer to stay close, but any suggestions are welcome.

Also, are there any good flea markets here?

Flea markets...I haven't been to one in Denver in years, so I can't help you there. Honestly, the best place to pick up HD DVD's at good prices is Super Wal-mart. Best buy overprices them. If you just want to browse a cool store, go to Listen Up! or Ultimate Electronics (my favorite) for great HT stuff. PM me if you want more info or want some help or anything.

Most of the Wal Marts in the area have pretty limited selections of HD DVD discs. Best Buy has the best I've seen in the area, but I think you got it right - place an Amazon order for local delivery. They have the selction, prices and with three weeks you shouldn't have any problem getting delivery before you leave.

boilerup is correct on the selection. I was more speaking of prices. Different best buys have a different size selections. The Best Buy near Park Meadows mall, right off I-25south has TON of HD DVDs and they are really nice people their, never had a problem with their service, by far my favorite BB

SomethingMore,

I live near the DIA in Denver and the best place to pick up HD-DVDs as far as price is concerned is the Walmart at Tower Road and I-70. This is about 10 minutes away from the airport. The number to that Walmart is (720) 374-0278.

As far as selection on HD-DVDs goes your best choice is the Best Buy at I-225 and Mississippi road in Aurora. This is about 15 minutes away from the airport. The number to that Best Buy is 303-338-5797.

There is a flea market named Mile High Flea Market but it is about 30 minutes from the airport and is opnly open on Sat, Sun and Weds. I have not been out there for a long time and am not even sure if anyone is selling HD-DVDs.

Good luck and happy HD-DVD hunting !

My advice is to find what you want on Target's webpage (Really Amazon.com) and print out each film's page you want and head in to your nearest Bestbuy. They will always honor those prices. They do the same thing for Blu-ray's as well.

You might want to offer up a specific store, since it's against BB's policies to honor internet prices...so it's store specific. I've visited three BB's in my area and not a single one will honor Targets web prices. Technically, per BB's procedures they are to call the closest Target to verify the item is in stock and the price. So it's a YMMV situation.....but this topic of BB price match has been discussed to death in many previous threads.

Ron,

Are you being serious? That REALLY surpises me to hear that. I have done this at 5 different BB's between Denver and Colorado Springs and all of them honored the Target prices without a hitch.

I have 2 Best buys near me. One NEVER matches a print out from the internet for HD DVD and Blu ray titles, and the other always matches it without even blinking...really odd

Josh:

Sad, but very true. There are two within a 10 min drive from my office. Even when I bring in a weekly circular, they make sure to check the date and (depending on the person) some will call the retailer to verify they are in stock and the price. When I asked about this a couple of months ago, the manager when through their written process for price matching...which he said did not include internet based prices. So I really think it's a YMMV situation or better put "the luck of the draw."

Thanks for all the info, guys! I'll be sure to check out all the places mentioned.

Also, if anyone knows of some good record stores (specifically, vinyl), PM me.

I may try the BB price matching, but I don't know. I'm a little too lazy for THAT. ;)
