I am currently working on my home theater and because of the ducts that run along the ceiling in my basement my room is going to have a very low ceiling (6'7"). To compound this my projector needs to be located right in front and fairly close to the door to my laundry room.

I'm not much of an artist but I'll try and show what I mean. The red is roughly where the ceiling will be to make up for the duct (there is a second duct out of the picture that is the reason why I don't want to just make a soffit for the duct on this side of the room)

Anyone have any ideas on maybe a way to build an opening in the ceiling above that I could have the projector stored away in when I'm not using it? Maybe some kind of way for it to lower down on a shelf or something?

If nothing else I'll probably just have it low and maybe build a small frame around it to protect it from people who are taller than 6"

I'm not sure what it costs, but this may give you some ideas.
