View Full Version : H100 with a blown fuse - help!
After some recent storms in our area, I recently noticed that bass was non existant in my theater. After inspecting my sub, I noticed that the power was not on and that the fuse was blown. I ran out to radio shack and purchased the same fuse 250v 1.6amp. There are four in the pack, and I have now blown through 3. Any ideas? The fuse blows when I add power. The sub itself is plugged into a small one-plug surge suppressor. The surge suppressor does not appear to be in a fault state, and nor does it appear damaged.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem and if so, how were you able to fix it?
Thanks in advance!
Chris

Try warranty or call BIC America. BIC charged me $50 to get it repaired/fixed.

Three blown fuses = defective power supply or amp.
Yeah I have 2 h-100's and I had problems with the amp with both subs. Just call BIC America and they will make you send the amp to them and they will send it back ASAP after fixing it. They have excellent customer service.
I am not sure if that size/rating comes in a slow burning fuse, but do you think that would help - or be a waste of $4? The package Radio Shack gave me was "fast."
Thanks - and I have submitted a help request on their website.

from support:
"If the H100 fuse has blown, there is something wrong with the amplifier and it needs to be repaired. Please remove the amplifier from the cabinet by taking out the screws around the perimeter of the mounting plate, and detach the clip leads from the woofer input terminals. Then, to check on the possiblility that the woofer has been damaged, apply a signal (a 1 1/2-volt battery will suffice), noting if the cone moves smoothly without scraping.
Then wrap the amplifier with its back shield attached in a few layers of bubble-wrap, pack it securely in a sturdy carton, and send with a brief note of the problem and a copy of this message prepaid to BIC America, 42 Alpha Drive, Cleveland, OHIO 44143. It will be repaired and returned to you promptly, at no charge and freight prepaid.
If you find that the woofer also has been damaged please mention that, and a woofer will also be sent to you."

scrubsr1 05-21-07, 02:38 PM I purchased mine two weeks ago and received it last Monday. It was doa. I called bic and was told to send the amp back and I would have another shipped to me shortly. Well here it is Monday and I'm still without a amp. Now I've found this thread and I'm worried more than ever. I should have broke down and got the SVS PB10...story of my life

Assuming you sent it in last Monday, got their Wednesday, they fixed and shipped it out on Friday, you should be getting it sometime this week. Please let me know if you don't get it this week - I shipped mine out today and hope to get it next week.
