Hi everyone, i am planning on building my rear riser today and have a question before I get started drawing it on Autocad.

If I am planning on getting theatre seats in the future, what is the minimum size riser I should build?? I am planning on putting a normal couch on it for now, but getting the theatre chairs when money permits.

I was thinking 4' from the rear wall should be enough.

What does everyone think??

Thanks
Ryan

You need at least 6', possibly a little more. My Berkline 088's are 5'6" when fully reclined.....some of the others extend a little more.

Cheers,

Thanks for the info but I am not worrying about recliners in the back row. Maybe in the front one day. I am not a fan of recliners, I am just talking about theatre seats.

I have theater seats and my riser is 60" deep that leaves a decent pass by space and foot room.

I got my theater seats from Seatsandchairs.com They are great to work with, they have some great used seats , which of course vary with time, and they offer great new ones as well.
I bought used top of the line theater rockers, They are very very comfortable and an anatomical design. I have nine seats, a row of 5 on the riser and a front row of 4.
the fact I bought used meant that basically my color scheme became dictated by the color of the chairs which is Mauve, so I have deep Orchid walls, black ceiling and Art Deco wall treatments of Navy, Red and Black with Gold and Mauve accents. My carpets are varied I have a black carpet on the stage, navy on the isles and a patterned purple carpet on my riser and steps.
