Hi I recently turned on my tv to find that the picture got all distorted. Instead of a square...the picture now looks like an hour glass (see picture). I was wondering if anyone could tell me whats wrong with it and if it was worth fixing. I mean if its going to cost $300+ dollars to fix I mind as well upgrade to an LCD or something...Any help would be appreciated..thank you.

It may be a fix as simple as adjusting "pincushion" or "parabola" in the service menu.

There is something wrong with that set at the circuit board level. There is no way that a PIN adjustment could adjust that serious of a bow out. If this set was fine yesturday, and bows like that today, that sucker needs to be opened up from the back for repairs or go in the dumpster. You might just wanna throw it in the dumpster.

If you're going to throw it out anyway, what's the harm in trying to adjust the service menu? Looks like a Panasonic Tau series set. Do you know how to get into the service menu? Let me know if you are game. I have a service manual siting right in front of me for CT-32HC14.

Well, there's always the old, leave it unplugged all night then try powering it up in the morning. The tuner on my Sony burned up one day and the set refused to power up. But it worked the next morning, just no more tuner.

I was going to suggest a shot of adrenaline to the heart, but it's probably too late for that. In the words of Dr. Mc Coy on Star Trek, "He's dead Jim".
