ok ,,,here's the question. For someone who primarily uses their TV just for regular viewing and watching numerous sports in HD, would the picture quality be noticeable between these two tv's? the G787 is a 1280 x 720 and the FN is 1920 x 1080. Is it worth spending a couple hundred bucks more for the FN?

I have the 61fn97. If I were you, I would spend the extra couple hundred dollars and get the 1080p. I can't directly comment on the PQ difference between the two but I believe it would be better to get 1080p in case you are feeling the itch to upgrade to an HD-DVD/BD player. I just didn't want to get stuck with any buyers remorse just to save a couple hundred dollars.

Looking forward to your impressions as I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger, especially at the price....later, even if I move the set down to my basement in 2 years, for $1500, no regrets.

I'd say go with the FN as it's 1080p. It'll help "future-proof" your set for quite a while.
61FN97...scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.(thurs) Ordered set about a week ago from beachcamera. Will let others know how set arrived after shipping across the country. NJ to Oregon. Should have set hooked up by evening and will give impressions of pic. quality, etc.

are these tv's from buydig.com beachcamera.com buy.com considered grey market?
if i was to buy it from one of these sites would i be able to get the extended warranty through JVC?
i am really considering pulling the trigger just am having a hard time...
Tech from Comcast just left after installing a cablecard. The HD is absolutely stunning. The entire process,( buying TV from beachcamera, the shipping, the delivery, the quality and pq of the TV) went very smoothly and everything is working just fine. All for 1595. Great TV.

If I were to buy the JVC HD-61FN97 now for $800 new, is that a good deal?
