curves and such.
Stage is 7" high, riser is 14.5" approx. I need to know what will work on this. I have a piece of scrap that shows the base of the carpet through the knap when I bend it, but I know nothing about carpet and I don't know what it is.

I have an 8" riser for seating and a 20" stage. We used the same carpet for the stage that we used for the rest of the room. It's a Shaw low rise pattern. It "upholstered" quite nicely - that's the term the carpet guys used to describe the work to cover the stage and riser....
I'd imagine that the more shag-like the carpet, the more likely it will show the backing when you bend it. Mine is "loop", but I can get you the specific name and type if you like.
I have several types of carpet in my theater. My stage has a black pile about 3/4 to 1" you don't see the backing where it is wrapped over the lip of the stage.
I also have a purple patterned loop carpet on my riser and it also wraps with no visible backing. So I would say either type would work well for you

Its a plush. Masland brand, very dense you can't see the backing when wrapped on the lip. Very pricey, $45 yd installed with pad plus extra for the lip labor

Bigmouth – it’s weird to see your theater with carpet after all the screenshots without. Looks nice though!
In picture 1, the checkerboard pattern shows a lot more contrast between the squares than picture 2. Which would you say is more “life-like”? Or does it depend on the angle at which you look at the carpet?

Yup, it was a WAF thing, she liked the squares. It is a little less pronounced in real life.

It's a Masland, Nylon. If you go to a Masland dealer they have a line of plain plush carpets in about 60 colors.
