I've had this Panasonic crt tv for about 3 years now. For the most part it's a great set. However, I have struggled with one problem from the start. For my tastes, the picture is just too darned dark in many scenes. Almost any scene that has a great deal of contrast results in greys and blacks that are totally pitch black. Maybe most people like this but like I said it's just too dark for my tastes. I've tried every adjustment I can find in the menus but just cannot brighten the picture enough for my taste. Does anybody else here still have or use this set? If so does anyone know of any way I can make more adjustments? I know it's an older tv but a newer one just isn't in the budget right now. If anyone has any suggestions I'd sure appreciate them.

Thanks,
RB

Not without going into the service mode.
There you'll be able to turn up the sub-bright a couple of degrees...

Thanks Dave....Is that something I can tackle myself? I have no idea how to get into or out of the service mode. Panny tech support was no help at all when I last called them.

Are you familiar with the Avia Guide to Home Theater?
This dvd is an excellent tool for adjusting black level. My ct34wx54 picture quality shines after using Avia.
