Ok, so my dad got our home theater professionally done and he got some really good speakers imo (7.1 B&W setup). He talked about bi-wiring with the sales guy after the sale and figured that bi-wiring was added to our order. Later on my dad noticed that they did not bi-wire.

My dad recently called the sales guy and he said that they would need to use completely new wire in order to change the set up (I think because they use special wires for bi-wiring). It sounds pretty costly, mainly because the Home Theater Store only uses audioquest cables, and my dad asked me if I could research where to buy our own wire because I usually use monoprice or firefold for all of our cables. However, I cannot find any special bi-wiring cables on monoprice or firefold.

So my question:

Is it even worth it to bi-wire? Since they already fixed the walls we would have to send the wire under the carpet. My dad likes the idea, but it would cost $8/ft from the guys we had the system set up with. I really have no experience with bi-wiring at all or know how to set up the receiver, I would have to learn it all myself if I were to do it.

Also, where would I go about buying the correct wires and learning how to set it all up on my own if I go that route?

Here is the equipment:
1- Denon AVR-4806 (receiver)
2- B&W 703 (towers)
1- B&W HTM7 (center channel)
2- B&W CDS6 S3 (in wall surround)
2- B&W CCM 65 (ceiling mount)
1- B&W ASW650 (sub)

Thanks in advance.

Sheesh, 3 hours...

Biwiring does indeed alter the system. Whether or not you will hear a difference, that's the big Q.

Given you plan on using it for 7.1, I'd not recommend biwiring. What the people in the studio do to the sound to manipulate the image location and size, completely destroys any possibility that biwiring will have some noticeable effect.

If a difference makes no difference, it is no difference. Stick with what you got...IMHO

Cheers, John

Might want to make this one a Bi-Wiring Sticky. It got to the point real fast!
