If you buy either of the Pirates of the Caribbean Blu-ray movies you get a $15 gift card. The deal is supposed to be if you buy them both you get a $15 gift card but I bought both and got 2 $15 gift cards. They ring up in the system $14.99 with $15 gift card.

O RLY? I was planning on picking them up at Best Buy instead so I could get the $10 back immediately, but if anyone else can confirm this will happen at Circuit City I'll definitely go there instead. Both stores are side-by-side where I'm going anyways :D

That pisses me off. I just went to CC on my lunch break (without knowing about this 2 gift card glitch) and I only got the 1 gift card. I guess you have to be lucky enough to get an idiot at the register. I do know the guy had a hard time ringing it up because it wasn't coming up right. I used to work at CC years ago and remember the same kind of problems with special promo packages ringing up.

Oh well, either way I will get $15 off Letters from Iwo Jima when I pick it up after I get my paycheck!

Well the other guys have made it sound like it was a computer glitch and that they're supposed to hand you 2 gift cards after the sale. So are you supposed to ask for the cards?

it's $15 to $30 in this case, hardly a few bucks. very useful to use on May 27th.

I got lucky with the Spidey bonus disc.

Have two Circuit Cities I could try in Tysons Corner, but I doubt I'd get that lucky.

I wasn't going to buy these, but with $30 in gift cards and my $5 rewards coupon to spend I'd definitely spring.

Can't imagine they'd be so stupid as to give you back 50% off the sale price just like that.

I only picked up the first one and got the $15 gift card. I will return this one to Fry's and get my money back. All these deals that are based on screw ups are amazing. I picked up six HD-DVDs last week at the Phoenix Frys because they added those $13.99 HD-DVD titles to the Blu-Ray buy 2 get 1 free deal. I got six of them for 9.35 a piece. I picked up Ultimate Matrix Collection from WHV for $63 shipped. Picked up the smoking deal Best Buy gave on the HD-DVD Departed. And of course all those great Blu-Ray buy 1 get 1 deals several months ago. Oh yeah and the great Amazon sale. Too many deals to keep track of and I like it!

They ring up in the system $14.99 with $15 gift card.

So do you get to use the Gift Cards at the point of sale, making it $30 total for 2 movies?

Adam_ME
05-22-07, 06:28 PM
For anyone in the Houston area, I went to the Galleria Circuit City and got the 2 free gift cards. Best of all, they ring them up as $14.99 for each movie plus 30 bucks for the gift cards. So you're only taxed for $29.98 instead of $59.98. :D

So this worked for me. I bought two sets and used the gift cards from the first set on the second purchase. Later this week, when I'm close by, I'll return the first set. Both movies for $30!!! Not a bad deal at all.

Still works in San Diego, got 2 free cards.

BTW, what The Matrix glitch?

Due to a malfunction in our computer systems, some customers
were recently able to order the Complete Matrix Trilogy HD-DVD
gift set from our website for $19.99 rather than the correct
price of $79.99. In addition, some customers were able to order
the O.C.: The Complete Fourth Season 5-pc DVD for $9.99 rather
than the correct price of $39.99.

Because of this pricing error many customers chose to place
multiple orders for each of these items. We are allowing each
customer who placed an order at the erroneous price to purchase
one box set of each movie at the lower price, and we are
cancelling all multiple orders as permitted by our Terms of Use.
(Please see circuitcity.com - "Terms of Use” - Errors on Our
Website.)

Glad I ordered only one of the Matrix

These are going for $29.99 right? So say you get both, that makes it around $65 after tax, minus the $30 gift cards, total comes out to about $17.50 each. Not what I consider HUGE savings, especially since you can only use the gift cards at Circuit City.

It's pretty good considering the next alternative is amazon at $24 each.

For me, it comes out to $16.35 each after tax. Basically 1/3 off amazon's price, and around 1/2 off of MSRP.

Well, if you buy them one at a time, and use the gc from the first purchase on the second one, you've already used one of them. So it's not that big of a deal that the gift cards can only be used at CC. Plus, since they are charging $14.99 for the movies and full price for the gc, you only pay tax on the $14.99. So it really does end up being a good deal. I wouldn't be surprised if the deal is dead by tomorrow though. I'm sure someone at corporate will notice the error.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm at work, so I'll have to go down tonight.

I'm betting they'll move a fair amount of disks though! Good thing I didn't preorder from amazon.

Even if it's only 1 gift card, it still comes out $1 - $2 cheaper per movie than amazon. :)

Just want to report that I went to circuit city in SD (Mt. Carmel) location. They were still giving $15 gift cards. But I passed because the total for both movies cam out to $62 bucks plus tax. Also the outer box holders of both movies were already pretty messed up and their werent many copies left.

My alternative was this: I ordered both off buy.com with $10 off google check out and free shipping. Each movie came out to $17.87 after tax.Yes I did have to create two new gmail email accounts. But I'm not complaining.I got both altogether for $35.74 compared to spending $62+tax at CC.Also the free shipping says 7 to 9 buisness days for shipping but I ordered BD movies before from buy.com and have got them all within 3 days or quicker.

I'm guessing it shows up at the register as

1 POTC

- 1 $15 card

1 POTC

- 1 $15 card

When It should be

1 POTC
1 POTC

- 1 $15 card

two POTC should trigger the $15 card, not one each.

No wonder Circuit City is having financial problems. The Matrix Trilogy for $19.99. 2 x $15 giftcards for the purchase of two Blu-Ray movies. And those aren't the only mistakes a few SD TV series were mispriced the night The Matrix was, they went for $9.99 instead of $49.99. Have fun

This seems very variable. The first CC I stopped in on was very specific that you only get 1 card if you buy both. The second one I visited game me a card per each. Plus the card is a cool CD rom thingy. I haven't tried loading it up yet.

Are there special gift cards? I just got two normal cards...probaly left over from valentine's day since both were filled with hearts...

The clerk also wouldn't let me use the cards for that purchase.

Was able to get the $15 card on each. So 1st Pirates was $29.99, second was $14.99 (1st card applied) and had the 2nd card for Matrix.

CC has the Matrix for 79.99 (complete version), so price matched with Target ad, comes to $63 plus 10% off (price match) and $15 gift card, total for the Matrix was $42 + tax. Sweet deal.....

BTW: This was at the Newhall (CA) location.

Well, finally picked up the both of them from the CC in Clearwater, FL. They were savvy to the two gift card trick, so I instead PM'd both to Target's price of $23 and still got the one $15 GC.

Works out about the same, not bad!

So Circuit City price matches? Not sure I've ever done it there.

How'd you get them to match Target? It's not in this week's flyer?

The price on Target's website is $23.99 (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=8-2/qid=1180035338******sr_8_2/601-3239668-3632110?ie=UTF8&asin=B000N6UERU) for each Pirates Blu-ray. I just brought in the print-outs and voila!

Don't go to the Circuit City in Trumbull, CT.

They don't even give you 1 $15 gift certificate, let alone 2. And I checked the ads for this location, and it's not listed. If you're willing to travel further away though to either the Norwalk or Milford ones, they have the gift certificate promotion.
