Excuse my ignorance. I'm only starting to read on CRT projectors.

Would a 10 inch gun give a very high resolution on the screen to take crt beyond HD-DVD/BD?

I dont think there are any 10 inch crts, But i do know that Barco makes a 12 incher !!!! I think Greg E. has sold one or two of these, not sure. I have seen it on the barco web site some time ago. They mention a 12 inch crt on their site:

9-inch CRTs have been able to resolve video resolutions beyond 1080p for years now. However, considering that HD-DVD/BD which is encoded at 1080p represents the pinnacle of consumer video media today, why do you need to go any higher? Bragging rights? I guess I don't understand the need for more resolution assuming that the source material will be video.

I think for a state of the art 9" CRT pj, the limitation to display higher resolution is video bandwidth rather than raster retrace, so a larger CRT tube in itself will not help. Most 9" CRT can address 2500X2500 pixel if the video bandwidth is there.

I read somewhere that Barco 12" does not display a higher resolution than the 9"er, but is a hell of a lot brighter.

it gets increasingly more expensive to manufacture good lenses as the diameter goes up.

And the Barco 912 is significantly better than the previous generation 812.
The 812 is where the observation of "only brighter, not sharper" comes from.

Sure it's possible, but it's never going to happen.

Barcoreality 912 (http://www.barco.com/VirtualReality/en/products/product.asp?GenNr=704).

However, it's my understanding that the Sony G90 has a better image.

Bigger BARCO just means BIGER problems.

With all the bad BARCO threads on here why would you want to hire a construction crew that has a license and insurance to operate a CRANE in your living room to lift that nasty looking thing to the ceiling only to have to pull it apart when it starts to crap out as it soon will.

Besides that, that machine has no business in a Home Theater. :)
