I leave in NYC and I'm pretty new to this so please just clue me in, I would appreciate it. here is the deal: I just purchased a Sony KDL-40V2500 40" Bravia V-Series 1080p LCD HDTV which has a built-in ATSC Tuner, and a Philips PHDTV1 Indoor Digital HDTV-UHF Antenna - HDTV Antenna - US2-PHDTV1. I plugged the antenna into the coax and nothing came up, did I miss something here? or do I need to add more stuff?
please help!

Do you do a digital channel scan? Connect the antenna to the digital ATSC coax input if the TV has two co-axial connectors? Aim the Philips Silver Sensor antenna in the direction of the Empire State Building where the major network broadcast towers are? The Silver Sensor is somewhat directional, so you need to place in a spot with minimum obstruction in her direction of the broadcast towers. Also, what is your zip code so we can look up approximately how far you are from the broadcast towers? We also need more information on your situation: apartment building, house, steel frame building?
Thanks guys, to answer your question afiggatt, my zipcode is 11214, it's an old app building 4 stories, I'm on the 4th floor and there is no higher tower around. I went through the manual, I scanned it and I got about 15 to 20 channels. Now, here is my question: why the number is low, since I live in Brooklyn, shouldn't be easier to get plenty of channels?
thank you very much

Are you counting stations or adding up the sub-channels? How many stations with x.1 channels are you getting?
Have you checked antennaweb.org to get a list of your local broadcast stations? For your zip code, your closer digital stations are:
* yellow - uhf WXTV-DT 41.1 UNI PATERSON NJ 16° 10.4 40
* yellow - uhf WNET-DT 13.1 PBS NEWARK NJ 16° 10.4 61
* yellow - uhf WNYE-DT 25.1 IND NEW YORK NY 22° 6.3 24
* yellow - uhf WNYW-DT 5.1 FOX NEW YORK NY 16° 10.4 44
* yellow - uhf WPIX-DT 11.1 CW NEW YORK NY 16° 10.4 33
* yellow - uhf WWOR-DT 9.1 MNT SECAUCUS NJ 16° 10.4 38
* yellow - uhf WPXN-DT 31.1 ION NEW YORK NY 16° 10.4 30
* yellow - uhf WABC-DT 7.1 ABC NEW YORK NY 15° 10.9 45
* yellow - uhf WCBS-DT 2.1 CBS NEW YORK NY 16° 10.4 56
* green - uhf WNBC-DT 4.1 NBC NEW YORK NY 17° 11.1 28
Are you getting all of these? There are 7 broadcast networks that provide HD programming: ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, PBS, CW, MNT (My Network). If you are getting those seven, you are getting all the HD broadcast channels.
In addition to the network stations that broadcast in HD, you're probably also getting some stations that broadcast digital signals, but not HD (only SD). There's probably a Spanish-language station or two, and a few independent stations. But no ESPN, CNN, Food Network, Golf Channel, etc. etc.
