I've got two Dell 1908FP LCD Monitors connected to my work PC. They're both brand new, and are coming across as too blue. I'd like to calibrate them as accurately as possible, but the only thing I can come up with for calibrating PC monitors is the Spyder system. Are there any good, free options that I can partake in?

Thanks,

J

You can use the EyeOne Display 2/LT, Spyder2, or Xrite Monaco Optix XR (if you can find one), with the software they come with to calibrate your LCD monitor. I think the preferred choice right now is the EyeOne. Anything better starts to get more expensive than the monitors themselves.

The software that comes with these devices allows you to adjust brightness, contrast, and white point, and work with your graphics card and OS to optimize gamma, with some amount of user and automated adjustments. Some versions (eg - "Pro") do more than the regular versions. You can also use HCFR or Calman, but for a PC monitor the adjustments are more limited since these apps do not build profiles or LUT's, they only allow you to adjust the user controls. On my 1905FP, I only have RGB drive controls, but no cuts, so there's not much I can do if the low IREs are off. And you can always use the bundled software and tweak with HCFR/Calman afterwards.
