1.8 has been the best update they have come out with yet. I'm so glad they finally got around to the media server. Its very promising and I'm slowly running out of complaints.

Once they deliver on those two things I think I can say the PS3 has lived up to its hype.

I have to agree that this is by far the best update to date. It adds more functionality than all of the previous updates combined.

I have to ask you ShapS, why do you want those things to have to be done outside of Home? I guess I imagine that even if all of these things are run through Home you won't have to do any more to access them than you would if they were icons in xmb. Plus aren't you talking about things have to be done "in-game" anyway? xbox makes you open a window into the xbox live world to contact friends or start chat so I can't see how it would be any different if you had to open a window into the home world so to speak to do the same.

I agree, this is the best update so far! 1080p 24 fps is tight....I just got to get a TV that supports it. I will now...!! LOL


Accessing your media off of your computer is a major update, and you can use all kinds of standard DNLA apps, unlike the Xbox 360 which only works with Media Center 2005, Media Player 11, and Vista Ultimate.

Does anybody know if the videos that you stream from your computer will upscale to 1080p?
