This is a syndicated article so likely other markets will see it - not up on my papers website yet. Author compared using ISF/Monsters test DVD vs. SpyderTV vs. hiring an ISF guy to fix his TVs
Pretty good article from the laymens POV that knows not a thing about calibration (some of the problems he blamed on software were really display limitations) - and also threw in some WAF comments about improved colors

Doesn't seem I can - apparently their e-edition is an extra subscription I don't have - so I am not allowed to access my paper online - even though I already read it....apparently the free news online is stuff deemed not good enough to print...although I see they just posted today an article I read in Sundays paper. I will keep an eye out for it.
Maybe someday they will join the new century and realize newspapers are for people that like to read rather than watch their news - but paper as a transport medium is so last century....

So... can you give us a summary, at least, of what they thought about the different calibrations methods?

I already tossed the garbage so this is from memory.
Remember this was written for the average joe - not for hobbyists that like to tweak. He complained the ISF DVD had him look at the folds in a guys shirt - but he could not see any folds until he dug deep into some menu (I bet a Video vs. PC switch) - but then was dissapointed because his display was washed out and grey (So I bet he did not know how to configure his DVD player).
He complained the SpyderTV said nothing about a greenish blotch on his LCD but his wife said it got the colors right (good catch there - as ISF DVD does not do tint adjustment and color relies on viewers eye rather than filters)
He had no complaints about his ISF guy and that was his recommendation. It was a very good reminder that to the average joe - that the menus on your TV can be a confusing mess.
Our usual advice on the forum is to get the test pattern DVD at the store when you buy the TV -or at least use the THX freebies - but I guess even that basic setup is way to complicated for Joe Blow - even the Monster DVD.

This was an Associated Press piece, so I don't know if any local papers will link it. However,TVPredictions (http://www.tvpredictions.com/hdpicture052107.htm) did discuss it with a little more detail.
