Our new house has a media room pre-wired for 5 speakers. The wall plates are down at the same level as the electrical outlets. Is this normal, or should the wall plates be placed up higher?

I'm debating getting in-wall speakers vs. getting wall-mounted or floor-standing. What are the pros and cons of each?
