For the ext. ins needed for dvd-audio & sacd, and for pre-outs to amps, I use regular red/white rca cables.

I need some longer ones anyway, so am thinking about more expensive ones, but I'm not sure the value, and I am hoping for advice.

Are the triple shielded ones with the creamy nougat center at $30.00 apiece really going to sound any better than the ones for $8.00 each?

NO.

What you get when you pay more (and I wouldn't pay more than a little bit more) is better build quality; sturdier cable, sturdier connectors, and better shielding (which is most likely not necessary).
