hey guys, hoping somebody can help with my question. I notice when i turn on my directv, it says my mode is at 720p. I thought this receiever can output 1080i?

I went in to the directv settings under tv type and check the box asking what resolutions my tv support, 1080. but when i turn on my tv it still says 720p. i pretty much tried everything but it keeps on sayin 720p.

I have a kdl-52xbr2 tv.

I can't help you with that, but if you put it in theHR20 sticky thread at the top someone there should have an answer.

It defaults to 720p when it starts up the first time. The RES button on the front panel is used to change the output resolution.

Do you have the native set to off? I have a 1080i TV (will not accept 720p) and even resetting the receiver it always comes back to 1080i. I think of you check the receiver to 720 and 1080 then like Sciber said it defaults to 720.

First go to Menu, then Setup, and then HDTV.

The green button on your remote will allow you to switch to the TV Resolutions page.

As instructed on the screen, press Select for all the resolutions you want to use on your HDTV.

When you are done, press the left arrow to return to the selection section on the left and select done to return to the Menu and Menu to exit the menu.

Now you can change between the various resolutions by pressing the Format button on your remote.
