THeres gotta be a name for it, but it will obviously limit my selections in TVs unless I get something wall mounted above the fireplace.

Is there a Site anyone knows about to search by dimensions of TVs?

The space is 43 1/4 wide x 24 1/4 deep x 47 1/2tall

Is there power in the niche/alcove? How about cable and speaker connections?
From the picture I would place a LCD/Plasma over the fireplace and place your equipment in the niche/alcove. Normally people would advise against placing the TV over the fireplace but your fireplace isn't that large and tilting the LCD/Plasma at an angle would work just fine.
