On the day the Halo 3 Beta hit, I found that my Crackdown disc was cracked! I have no idea how it happened. The disc has never been dropped. It is kept in its case at all times.

That was on Wednesday, May 16th. I sent the disc in to the Microsoft disc replacement program on Friday, May 18th via USPS.

Amazingly, I got the disc back TODAY, just 7 days later!

For 20 bucks they better have a quick turn around.

IMO should be cost of shipping plus say $2.50. First their player has an ability to freak out and scratch up disks all unto itself (never seen a disk player do that prior to this one), but it's not like you bootlegged the game. You give them the bad disk which imo proves proof of purchase they replace it for a minimal fee. What is so hard about all of this?

Years ago, my Unreal Tournament disk broke and was replaced for free.

I was basically out a $60 game. I can have scratches repaired (DVD rental place down the street does it for $3. But this sucker had a hairline crack in it from the center to about halfway through the disc. It refused to play at all.

Would I prefer that it was free or cheaper? Sure.

But at least now I have a playable disc, and it didn't cost me another $60 to get it. I'm not going to complain about that.

I would have just thrown that thing in the case and went to Walmart and did an exchange...

A $20 dollar charge would make me forget I even owned the game if it cracked.
