Universal co-produced this with Fox. Is there a chance we could see it on HD DVD?

I'm sure that title has been announced for Blu Ray. I owned this on D-VHS and it came from the 20th Century Fox stable and they don't support HD-DVD.

The European rights may be different.

We must take a look at who has Distribution rights Globally.

Distributors

Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation
20th Century Fox Netherlands
20th Century Fox of Germany (Germany)
20th Fox Home Entertainment (2004) (France) (DVD)
Buena Vista International Italia (2003) (Italy) (theatrical)
Buena Vista International (Argentina)
Buena Vista International (Japan) (theatrical)
FS Film Oy (Finland)
Fox Filmes do Brasil (Brazil) (theatrical)
Fox-Warner (2003) (Switzerland) (theatrical)
Gemini Film (Russia)
Hispano Foxfilms S.A.E. (Spain)
United International Corporation (2003) (France) (theatrical)

Looks like Universal doesn't have any disty rights globally

Fox owns the distribution rights for the most part. Once again glad to support both formats.

This was supposed to be a June BD release title but that was before Fox delayed all but their new releases. :(

I have it on DTTHEATER and it looks great. I would love to be able to compare them...

I would love to have this title on either HD format...the lossy soundtrack was demo quality, can you imagine uncompressed PCM or Dolby THD? Benchmark...

As of late Weinstein has released more HDM than Fox so why obsess until they start producing product?

I was wondering, since Universal actually is involved, if they have any say in it's distro. This is a movie screaming for hi-def, simply a tremendous film.

when i first got all my home theatre bits up and running mid last year i hired a bunch of movies to demo my setup with. This was the first one i loaded up. AWESOME!

actually when i was shopping around for HT stuff a lot of places had a DVD demo disc that featured a scene from the movie with lots of canon fire etc.

The list of distributors is posted above. Universal isn't involved. Fox has the American distribution rights.

An awesome movie, one of the very few I'm envious of BR owners for seemingly having exclusivity on.

"one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!" - I went with HD-DVD! :p :D
