This would be a great one for the kids.

I have two questions:

1) I thought weinstein had distribution rights.

2) What's up with stupid looking cover. All the posters and trailers for this movie had the turtles looking all tuff, 80's comics style. Now it looks like the new cartoon.

Great, another combo!! Is there anyone who actually wants these?

It's because those covers are for the original series season 5 set. It says so in the article. It says the movie is coming as well but no cover pics yet.

Ah man, another damn combo disc. Jeez, I want it, but I'm not paying $30 to $40 for it. :(

It was so good too....

$30 to $40?? Do you buy your HD DVDs exclusively at Best Buy?

I remember the trailers showed the WB logo followed by the Weinstein Co. one. Usually that means WB has domestic rights and the Weinsteins release it internationally.

Weinstein was theatrical distribution, Warner appears to have U.S. home video distribution.

I hate combos.

Not buying it because it's a combo.

Sorry, but I think the HD DVD consumers have made it known they don't want combos. I gave them a pass at first, but there's no excuse for them still using that format.

I do. :)

I have almost 20 combos and they are perfect. I can pop it in the car DVD player for the kids,

You just have to upgrade your car DVD player to HD DVD. :p :D :p

I always get the HD-DVD version, but I do hate paying extra for combos. Hopefully WB makes it worth the additional cost by including a Dolby TrueHD track on only the HD-DVD release yet again. ;)

well, if warner is following any sort of pattern the blu ray will probably have PCM uncompressed sound, which is a big plus.

even if its 24 to 27, itll still be cheaper on blu-ray. unless wb offers some crazy ime or something on the hd-dvd ver, i still see no reason to pay even $1 more. thats the beauty of not being a fanboy, i can pick the best of each format. i get matrix 6 months early, i get 300 and blood diamonds with cool ime, and i get tmnt for cheaper :)

I'm looking forward to this. I saw it in theaters and I think it will look great on my projector at home. Hopefully (but not likely) the HD-DVD version will have TrueHD audio.

300: Combo Disc - MSRP = $29.99.

I guarantee you TMNT will be the same price, if not higher.

Loved the movie, hate the cover. Not representative of the movie's darker tone at all. Oh well, still going to buy it. I need the rooftop rain fight sequence in HD NOW.

Well at Amazon prices for their combo/BD versions, you're looking at $27.95 for the HD-DVD combo, and $23.95 for the Blu-Ray version. Thanks Warner for sabotaging the HD-DVD format again (I'll buy the cheaper version).

Bingo. Great wording too, sabotage is a good way of explaining the combo format. There is nothing dumber in the HD world, right now, than the HD DVD/DVD combo disc.

Warner had domestic theatrical rights, TWC had international (except for a few places, Japan, etc). As for Home video, Warner has domestic, TWC has international.

I'm being lazy and didn't read all the posts but this is for TMNT Season 5 of the cartoon from Lionsgate, NOT TMNT the movie.

Excerpt from http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7381)

"Lionsgate is planning an August release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 5, in the "Original Classic Style" (a.k.a., the '80s version of the cartoon)."

Silly question, but why doesn't Warner give the Blu Ray version the same combo treatment? I'm sure it has to do with the media, but figured I'd ask.

This is a blind buy for me (on HD-DVD). I guess combos don't bother me much at the moment although I do wish they had a cheaper MSRP. Seeing how they pride themselves on cheaper players they should pride themselves on cheaper movies as well.

But either way when I was watching TMNT in the theaters and saw that one particular fight scene, I kept on thinking how cool it would be to see that in HD. :D

you are being lazy, because while the article is about the season 5 release, the August 7th date and cover images are for the MOVIE as mentioned in the article... Great movie, will look awesome in HD and I'll be picking up the blu-ray to save cash by skipping the combo...can't wait for this. (and to the above poster, how is it a 'blind buy' if you've seen the movie...)

I for one am glad that it's a combo. That means my son will also be able to watch it in his room, like Ant Bully and Happy Feet. Or in the van on those long car trips. That's worth a few more dollars to me.

I have to be honest, I would never spend $30 on a HD movie for my kids. They're not careful when they handle the discs, and don't appreciate the upgraded picture and sound anyway.

And, Happy Feet? My 3 YO loves it, but for an adult it's excruciating to sit through.

Heh, "Happy Feet" would not have appealed to me at any age. When I was a kid, I was into movies like "Die Hard", "Aliens", and "Conan". :)

For sure, a must buy. I guess you meant you'd buy it regardless of looking for reviews etc. Blind Buy is usually reserved for when you haven't seen a movie and are approaching it 'blind' ie. not knowing if you'll like it or not. But I fully expect Warner to deliver with this release, should be a no brainer for fans.

That's pretty much what I meant, I just used the wrong word. Live and learn. ;)
