My television recently broke and am looking for the best deal on a new HDTV. Many people have told me to choose the Flat panel Westinghouse 42" and at the same time people have told me to choose a projection TV because it is cheaper and sometimes even better. I am looking to spend 1000 hopefully less and don't really need it that big. Maybe between 30 and 40"? Can someone please give me some advice on what I should look into. Thanks.

I personally don't like westinghouse, my computer monitor has some bad blurring stripes and the TV's I saw at the store looked poor in picture quality also. Cheap though, probably looks alright if you stand far away.

-KevinFor a grand you can get a 42" plasma, which will give you a better all-around picture than either a flat panel LCD or rear-projection LCD, DLP or DiLA. Plus, you won't be buying replacement bulbs for it in the future.
The Vizio 42" plasma, for one, is around that price. Circuit City had it on sale over the weekend, so I assume they carry it.
