View Full Version : Anyone have a Spare Red Marquee 8500 Tube, or Selling 8500 Projector

Hi Folks:
I'm in need of a new red tube for by 8500. It's my 2nd 8500, and long story short but both projectors ran into trouble and now I have a good blue and green tube, and then four dead tubes (2 reds, a green and a blue).

Given the relatively low prices of 8500s now, it might make more sense to just get a new machine outright, and keep what I have for spares. However, if someone has a reasonably priced red tube available, let me know, and what price you would be willing to part with it for. I've had some bad luck with this CRT hobby, having been sold a dodgy projector to begin with (by Projection Systems in Wisconsin way back) but I'm still keen to keep at it.

As we speak, there is a 9500 going for just $2.5k on fleabay, which is mighty tempting, but the 'wear on blue tube' is a bit worrying.

Anyway, any advice would be most welcome. I'm keen to get up and running again.

Thanks!
John.

One follow up question - are the four lenses and casing/enclosures worth anything to anyone? I believe the tubes can be rebuilt by VDC..

Thanks,
John.

Thanks,
John. the 8500/9500 Focus coils with Electronic Stig leads are worth about 50 bucks each. The Sweep and Conv. coils are also worth about 10 bucks a set. I also like the newer 2 piece plastic housing over the old ones on the 8000's and think they are an upgrade along with the newer lead-shielding.

Thanks for the help guys. I managed to secure a new red tube from a fellow memeber. Hopefully that will get me going again.

Cheers,
John.
