i have a brand new 32 inch samsung hdtv that i use with my 360 via vga cables. the past week i've noticed that my tv frequently turns on and off while i'm playing games. i dont have this issue watching tv. i also use my xbox to play standard and hd dvds with no problems. what could be causing my tv to switch on off while playing games?

Someone hiding behind you with a second remote.

Yup, I second the gaming gremlins. At least they aren't chewing through your wiring yet.

I hate those little bastards.

Are you sure it's switching on and off, and not just switching modes? Meaning, re-synching VGA?

something similar did happen to me one time... but I was sitting on the remote LOL!

no idea, why would it resync VGA or any other mode during a game? This happens frequently within a game session?? Is this the LNS3251?

sounds like the OP's cables are not fully plugged in and the TV loses the signal, then quickly sees it again, so it re-syncs.

or it could be a bad/damaged video cable

i checked the cables on those were fine. i run my 360 hd dvd player on there with no problems. the screen turns off at random times. everything was fine until i started playing burnout revenge. since then the on and off black screens keep happening. strange thing is i can still hear the sound through my home theatre system and control whatever is on the screen.

Are you sure your tv remote isn't stuck under your couch that your sitting on like the other guy who thought his microwave was causing his tv to turn on and off? :p

LOL - a bit OT but the sitting on the remote comment made me remember this

- A couple years ago, I bought a new keyboard and put my old one (wireless) in a cabinet about 10 feet away. At some point, something got put lightly on top of the keyboard causing a couple keys to do intermitent wierd things to the PC. I spent hours trying to figure it out - virus scans, adaware, etc. Gave up and reformatted the harddrive. It continued to do it. Popped into my head out of nowhere while sitting on the couch to check the old keyboard. Sure enough, that was it.

ok i did some experimenting. i got a firmware update for my samsung that was supposedly supposed to fix the problem. played a game, no luck. i then disconnected my vga cable and connected my component cables and bingo problem fixed. so it must be a problem with my television not being able to handle my vga connection. i really wish i could use my vga as games look much better. maybe its time for me to get an elite.

It could be faulty VGA cables. Try a new set.

i've heard that alot of lcd hdtvs have problems with vga connections. i don think its the cable cuz i tried hooking it up to my lcd computer monitor and games play with no problems. the mystery continues.
