View Full Version : Forza 2 Motorsport : Have you gotten yours?
Grumpy514 05-29-07, 07:11 AM Anyone able to actully get this today? Someplaces say they will have it in today and the majoirty says shipped today.
If So what store did you pick it up at?
Anyone?
logicalnoise 05-29-07, 10:22 AM I didn't receive a call from gamestop yet so I assume most Gamestops will get them tomarrow.
DeepFreezed 05-29-07, 11:17 AM if you pre-ordered and don't get it from gamestop today that is lamn....
I didn't pre-order but just going to walk in to BB and get one tomorrow. what the point in pre-order if you don't get it on release day?
ooPAYNEoo 05-29-07, 11:25 AM if you pre-ordered and don't get it from gamestop today that is lamn....
I didn't pre-order but just going to walk in to BB and get one tomorrow. what the point in pre-order if you don't get it on release day?
wait 'till GTA4 comes out, and you'll see the importance of reserving your copy!
Amazing... this game with such supposed longevity and playability...why does it matter to wait one more day to get it?? Yeh thats my reasoning to relax, I will be playing this game tomorrow night.
utcpyro 05-29-07, 11:27 AM My copy is on pre-order at a game stop, so I'm expecting to be able to pick it up after work. if they don't have it, I'll be a little pissed.
Chris89Stang 05-29-07, 12:19 PM At lunch today I checked Circuit City, Target, Gamestop, and Walmart and nobody had it. The guys at CC and Gamestop said it won't come out until tomorrow (30th) Walmart and Target were clueless and never even heard of the game but checked and said it wasn't at the store at all.
DeSolate 05-29-07, 12:31 PM called two different gamestops and they said it ships today and gets in tomorrow. Doesn't every other retailer get it tomorrow as well? If so what's the use of preordering....
^^Because when you're in gamestop, the genius behind the counter will tell you how they're going to sell out and you probably won't be able to find it for months...
I'd be surprised if anyone has it today, due to the holiday weekend.

Circuit City guarantees it by 2 pm or you get a 20$ GC.
EDIT: On the 30th.

Sorry. Edited original post.
DerekinMerrick 05-29-07, 02:00 PM to bad you reserved your game at gamestop. I reserved nothing and get forza 2 with a free game from circuit city. And if they sell out I get a 20$ gift card which is also fine with me.Game stop SUCKS. They are thieves all of those places there for little kids who want games and their parents will buy them not knowing the real cost of the game.
lacombo 05-29-07, 02:04 PM dont think MS thought about the holiday...lol
ProjectEF 05-29-07, 02:43 PM dont think MS thought about the holiday...lol
Somebody in marketing fell asleep. Should have stated public release for the 30th in the first place. And besides that, there is no reason for stores not to have it. In transit mail shipments dont typically stop on holidays, they just aren't delivered.
newfmp3 05-29-07, 02:53 PM this is killing me. If I do get my hands on it, I have to work ALL weekend, day and night :( Same thing happened on the release of Forza 1

I'd buy from frys everytime but I either pay shipping and still get teh game late or drive 40 miles and spend the same amount on gas as I would shipping. Circuit city isn't close enough to be worth the drive and I just outright refuse to give best buy my money.
Mcklein 05-29-07, 04:42 PM FYE dont have it, I was told theyll get it tomorrow..
I'll be hitting up CC tomorrow with the 2 free gift cards I got from the Pirates Blu-ray movies.
Combine that and the free 20$ game with purchase of Forza 2 and I'll be out the door with 2 games for 30$.
Not bad....
Mustang1 05-29-07, 06:55 PM I have my copy. :D
longhorns 05-29-07, 06:59 PM How'd you get it and how do you like it? Any update when you started it up? did it change anything, give us some info man!

Yea, whats the deal?
I just got my call from ebgames, tomorrow we race!
DeepFreezed 05-29-07, 08:23 PM apparently release day is the ship date
Grumpy514 05-29-07, 09:31 PM Anyone going to try to get it at a 24hr wal-mart?
I would but its hopeless where I work, not to be prejudice but everyone that works at the 24 hr one here barley speaks english.
Its seriously like walking into a 3d world country, your lucky not to get robbed in the parking lot also.
I wantt this gameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I have my copy(ASIA vers). Really great game! Initially the graphics did not wow me, but I appreciated it more as I played. The tracks are highly detailed, and running through nurburgring with D class cars is a joy :D
I will eventually buy that wireless wheel, but I wish that ultra nice logitech g25 was supported.
Grumpy514 05-29-07, 11:41 PM Anyone else?
gamegod2x 05-30-07, 12:52 AM Mine will be available at EB around 1pm, so i will probably get there after work.
One thing though, last week i got the forza Faceplate and it came with a token code to download something but its not working yet. Im guessing they will have a free car or theme for the token hopefully soon.
Grumpy514 05-30-07, 01:12 AM Well no go at 24hr wal mart.
Nothing in yet.
lacombo 05-30-07, 01:15 AM Toronto peeps got it. U.S. in the morning.

steve68 05-30-07, 11:34 AM I have a preorder with Amazon, but it isn't supposed to be here until June 7. Stopped by the local EBGames and Target and neither had it in yet.
DerekinMerrick 05-30-07, 11:49 AM I dont think I am going to buy this right now anymore. I have the wheel and everything and freakin love forza. But there is no dash cam and there are a few problems I have with the game from reading reviews. Check out IGN.com there review explains it to me. The game is too much about building a car and less racing. I will rent this game for like a month then I will buy it for like 30$ I just cant do it anymore guys 60$ is to much for me. I can get the same game and play it now then buy it for cheaper. I am confused about this game dont think I am a forza basher because the first one was the best racing game.
PridgNYC 05-30-07, 12:03 PM Have a preorder with amazon, but I was notified early this morning they will not ship until mid-June. So I walked over to GameStop in Rockefeller Center and picked up a copy. I'll keep my order with amazon open a few more days; maybe they will email me the preorder download code.
Andrew67 05-30-07, 12:05 PM The game is too much about building a car and less racing.
Is this any different than Forza 1?

Basing a video game purchase off of an IGN review is similar to buying a car based on a Consumer Reports rating. The majority of that review was basically just complaining that the game wasn't Burnout or PGR.
Here's a quote from the review:
"Cars are supposed to be sexy, but they aren't sexy in Forza 2. Sure, they are accurately recreated and have spot-on physics,"
He basically admits right there that accurate car models bore him, which also says he clearly is not the target audience for Forza, and he should go back to playing mindless arcade games.
If you thought the first Forza was a great racing sim, there's no reason you should think the second one won't be.
ooPAYNEoo 05-30-07, 12:25 PM Derrick, plenty of people are buying the game just to have fun racing. No one says you MUST build a car... the option is there. Yeah you might lose races, and I would bet that out of frustration, you MAY want to look into how and why to make some adjustments...
Set up a stock racing club... where no one builds cars, everyone focuses on racing.
Personally I take this game as a challenge to learn a bit more, but I certainly don't see myself building monster muscle cars.
I do have some interesting decal ideas that I hope I can make money off of... :D
I bought 2 copies (one for my friend) at lunch time at EB Games in Montreal...
Chris89Stang 05-30-07, 01:08 PM Picked it up at lunchtime from Circuit City. They have the free $20 game with purchase so I picked up NFL Blitz. They only had that and some other crap game so I picked the less crappy of the 2. :)
I hope to play it tonight if I have time. Gamertag : NOSLO5PT0
Got mine at Gamestop at lunch and I bought the next to last copy. Guy behind me got the last one and it was only 11:30 am. They were commenting on how few copies were sent out.
Gamertag:blue32devil32
MPresseau 05-30-07, 01:23 PM I got mine at lunch time at EB Games in Montreal, too. It's now sitting in my trunk.

According to reviews tuning will be able to make up for upgrades when it comes to stock cars. So maybe have just a pure tuner club.
abuharabi 05-30-07, 01:47 PM Just a heads up for all the amazon preorders: Mine says it will be delivered tomorrow, May 31. I about had a heart attack when I saw the mid-June posts above. Let us pray I have a nice little box from amazon when I get home tomorrow.
steve68 05-30-07, 01:57 PM I can honestly say I'm not buying this game for the racing. I wasn't overly impressed with the AI in the demo. I'm buying the game almost exclusively to lap the Nurburgring. Just time challenge my friends with and nothing more.
FatiusJeebs 05-30-07, 02:13 PM I was gonna try to get the game and the sterring wheel. I may still do it when they release GTR later this year. I already have a MOMO for my PC but I will definitely be racing this game. I've raced the demo to death already.
ZaZeeMan 05-30-07, 03:02 PM I just picked up the CE edition (HUGE book inside) and will try to race whenever I can. With 2 boys, it's hard to get some quality gaming in while they are awake. :)
GT: ZaZeeMan
ooPAYNEoo 05-30-07, 03:28 PM wow that was easy... walked right in and picked it up from *coughggamestopcough*.
Mom&Pop were taking too long waiting for the brown truck, so...
Hopefully its not random who you race with online... does anyone have any info on the lobby system? I don't want to end up with a bunch of racing freaks cursing me out when I make a mistake, or laughing about my car choice.
Anyone who doesn't take all this too seriously (just want to have fun with my games) please add: ooPAYNEoo
I probably won't race tonight, most likely will be checking out the features and deciding on WHICh 1sT CAR to buy??
wow that was easy... walked right in and picked it up from *coughggamestopcough*.
I bet you were "lucky to get one of the 2 or 3 that weren't pre-ordered." ;) And, I'm sure you were given the option of loaning them money against games coming later this year, too.

steve68 05-30-07, 04:13 PM Same here. Just stopped by Gamestop in between meetings. I'm thinking about leaving the Amazon order active and returning it to Gamestop when it comes in so I can keep the preorder Z car. Might not be worth the hassle though.
Picked it up from Circuit City together with the Pixar CARS game for the kids for free. They didn't have a big selection of $20. games for the 360.

The clerk looked stoned or something when I asked for Forza. He did asked me if I wanted to preorder anything! uh nah....
But the store was crowded and I was like "oh shhh"...but the kids were in there playing College Basketball 2k whatever... you wouldn't even know Forza was out yet!
longhorns 05-30-07, 07:12 PM called my gamestop (carrollton, Tx) at 1200, they said they had just got in in (PM not AM) so i went over there, picked up it up at 1230. and no, there were a ton of games, the guy asked me if i preordered, and i said no, handed me a game and i left.
Game is great, and surprisingly challenging, i turned off all helpers (stability control, traction control, yadayada) and put the racers on hard, dang man this stuff is tough, and i really want the new skyline! but it's real hard to earn enough cash to buy a car.
Gamertag : Armani Exchange
and i probably won't be on live till i get a nice enough car :p
HoodedSoldier 05-30-07, 07:39 PM Picked mine up. Gonna play some offline first and i'll be on tonight. gt: Mo Gunz
Got mine and the wheel. Will be Live later tonight, I'm one of those odd fellas that likes racing strictly D and sometimes C class though.
Quikzilver 05-30-07, 09:01 PM Picked mine up from gamestop and also grabbed their last MS wireless racing wheel during lunch.
Did anybody else who bought the wheel feel like they were trying to break into fort knox with the packaging?
Anyhow, I haven't even loaded up Forza 2. I attempted loading the drivers for the wheel from the PGR3 disc that it came with but I don't think the drivers loaded or were loaded correctly because the wheel's deadzone is skewed a little to the left. Anybody know if this is perhaps normal?
This is my first wheel so I think it'll take me a while to get used to it.
GT: Osiriis
If you want to watch somebody continuously driving into walls, and possibly your ride, hit me up.
Well the Circuit city near work did not get the game at 2pm (I managed to finish work early for a change) so I got a $20 gift card. Then on my way to work I stopped by another CC and they apparently just got their shippment (man I would have almost scored another $20). So I got it, and managed to get my selection of free game (Picked Lego Star Wars2, had it for the PS2, but it is really fun).
My son has monopolized the Xbox so far (Lego Star Wars) so I will be playing latter today........
steve68 05-31-07, 12:29 AM Played about 4 hours so far. I've got to get the MS wheel. This game is seriously fun.

Mine force feedback often skews the wheel a little to the right. It's annoying in theory, but while i'm playing I never notice it.
Also, i'm not sure if there are really any drivers that you need to load. I bought my wheel used, so there weren't any instructions or the PGR3 disc, but when I synced the wheel to the xbox, it immediately just worked.
... and I agree that the wheel can take a bit getting used to if you're used to playing with a controller. Stick with it and i think you'll find that you have an advantage over people using the controller.
20% complete so far, only had a few hours to play yesterday but the game is very good.

You should read the Gamespot review. It's far more accurate than the IGN review.

whiskey > work 05-31-07, 09:06 AM after some flip flopping between Forza and Shadowrun in Circuit city, I chose Forza because it has 3 good reviews I have read so far and shadowrun had none. I got Table Tennis for free with it, so it was quite a deal. I bailed out of work this morning and got some in. Very impressed! The jaggies in my opinion aren't as bad as they were in the demo, but this is highly debatable. Me likey!

I did the same thing. My amazon preorder ship date was pushed back to June 14, so I picked the game up at gamestop at lunch yesterday. Then amazon came through last night and emailed me the download code for the bonus car :D I'll be cancelling my order today ;)

The IGN review sucks. It seems to me from reading the review, the guy just wants to play Need for Speed since he dosen't feel the "speed" in Forza...
abuharabi 05-31-07, 11:27 AM My Amazon preorder got pushed back to June 4. That's not too bad, but it says my item is "Shipping Soon" so I can't just cancel it. Amazon got one hell of an email from me today, given I paid for expedited shipping also.
...since he dosen't feel the "speed" in Forza...
That reviewer obviously didn't race the Nürburgring circuit with the pedal to the metal (make that plastic :D ). Yesterday I raced 3 laps (free run) using the MS wheel sitting 8 feet away from my 72" HDTV on the Nürburgring circuit with a class R4 Imprezia. Let me tell ya that it was a total BLAST!!
Pure Adrenalin.
jasonstiller 05-31-07, 01:45 PM Damn, i was totally blown away by the crap graphics due to the demo and chose not to purchase it but you guys are making me want it again. And 3/4ths of my game collection are racing games :O
The IGN review sucks. It seems to me from reading the review, the guy just wants to play Need for Speed since he dosen't feel the "speed" in Forza...
Yea, I really don't have a clue what the IGN reviewer was expecting in this game. Forza never once tried to pass itself off as any old driving game, it's advertised as a driving simulation. Most people that like the arcade style play of most racing games don't like Forza because it forces them to drive more like real like and less like a video game.
Damn, i was totally blown away by the crap graphics due to the demo and chose not to purchase it but you guys are making me want it again. And 3/4ths of my game collection are racing games :O
The demo's graphics were never crap, but the full version does seem to be better contrary to what a few people here refuse to believe. There were rumors of a pre-release anti-aliasing patch whic many here doubted because nothing was ever officially posted. There is an patch to be installed as soon as you start the game. I don't know what it does, but I can say that the aliasing does seem to be much improved over the demo version.
ooPAYNEoo 05-31-07, 06:59 PM I never saw the confirmation of an AA patch, but I agree, it looks smoother. Che from Turn 10 did say that the update included some online fixes.
What level are people playing, and what view are you using?
I'm starting intermediate, but I might notch it down (yeah I know...) and I have compared 3rd person to hood view, and got much better times with hood. You can better gauge the distance from the tip of the car to the road... obviously, I guess.
My Forza 2 order from Amazon was showing June 18th yesterday, but I couldn't cancel it because it was showing as being prepared for shipment. Was going to go ahead and buy it locally (returning the Amazon one) - but, today I get the "your order has shipped email" from Amazon. Not complaining.
RobertR1 05-31-07, 07:26 PM Just an awesome game. The physics, cars and tracks all rock! I personally hate fake race and city track so having actual road racing circuits was quite welcomed. Played for about 5hours yesterday and can't stop thinking about it all day today. Neet to get home!
After playing the N-ring on froza2, there is simply no room for PGR3 comparisons. This is downright awesome. You can actually see the track far into the distance. Coming down hills you get a beautiful view of the country side or the small tourist hangouts. Coming down the straight out of the last corner you can see the entire forest along with the old Castle. In the beginning of the track you can even see the F1 circuit next to you!
Since I used an Audi R8 for all my track runs, it was very cool to see how that car, without any tuning was suited well for smooth circuits such as Silverstone but protested heavily at tracks like the ring and the infamous Laguna dip going up the hill on Turn 6. Normally in other games, the car has a certain trait that is flat from track to track but in Forza2 the car characteristics were based on the circuit itself and would alter dramatically track to track.
If I don't spend atleast 200+ hours on this, I'll be very shocked. So far the best $60 I've spent on a 360 game in terms of price to playtime ratio.

honestly i hated the demo too, but the game is soooo much fun. i now agree with everyone, the gameplay makes up for anything that's missing in the gfx department.

The only thing that's "missing" in the graphics department is the weird HDR lighting. It needs a re-work for Forza 3.

well i dont feel like nitpicking, because the game is that good, but it could use a little HDR, yea, and the reflections need some work, more AA/AF would be nice, higher res textures for certain track/environment elements, etc etc.
but the gameplay is so good that none of that really matters, and i havent even touched online multiplayer.

Yep, mines still sitting there as I type :D

The help option in the tuninng menu helps a lot. It explains what everything does but not how each thing can help your current car condition. WHich is teh whole point of tuning.
alucard_x 06-01-07, 11:49 AM Is there an option to change the controls in this game? There wasn't in the demo so i'm not sure i would enjoy it.
I like to have down/up shift on the triggers, and gas/brake/ebrake on the face buttons. this comes from years and years of GT on psx..
ProjectEF 06-01-07, 11:53 AM It's so satisfying to transfer my real world tuning setups to the in game cars, and have them react the same way. It worked well in Forza 1, but this time it's much more accurate.

Yes there is. And from the dashboard, you can set your 360 up to automatically pick your preferred layout for a driving game, shooter, etc.
KLUNKDM 06-01-07, 12:42 PM I was waiting to get it from the CompUSA in my town (I get games at cost), but they don't even have any on order yet (Means they are having issues getting them). One of the two BestBuys have sold out and the Circuitcity has sold out also. Some of the gamestops (Tons of them) have sold out too.......I am pointing this out because I believe that the game is selling very well and I am going to just get it today from one of the store that still have it in stock. I'm glad its selling good and I hope it is a big seller............

best game I've ever played. Puttin it right out there. Played the christmas out of it last night on the projector at 120 inches and loved every minute of it. My eyes felt like they were going to burst, but it was sick! Raced head up against my bro in law and got smoked and it was still fun! Funny thing was he made this car that says "www.mynamesucks.com", except insert my name where my name is :p . It was insulting, yet brilliant. I'm in the process of drawing my bro in law having relations with a large barnyard animal on the side of my audi. Pictures soon
JimsArcade 06-01-07, 03:46 PM My "pre-order" at BB finally arrived TODAY. This is why I stopped doing pre-orders years ago.
DerekinMerrick 06-01-07, 04:27 PM only for halo 3 will I pre-order.
abuharabi 06-01-07, 04:29 PM mine shipped today after me paying for it to be here on wednesday. Thanks, Amazon. No more preorders from me either.
I quit pre orders after the last Madden fiasco!
BassTek 06-01-07, 09:54 PM Got mine on Wednesday. I plan to pimp out an RX7 and take it online this weekend.
formulanerd 06-02-07, 12:25 AM i only pre-order from liongames.com, mainly because i paid 40 a game for halo 3, bioshock, and mass effect. so even if i get them a couple days late it wont matter because i saved 20 bucks.
i'm not worried about halo 3 being late, i think i'll be playing forza/dirt/bioshock still, maybe shadowrun, two worlds, and eternal sonata, and i've played the crap out of the beta so i wont feel compelled to have it at the very first second possible. mass effect on the other hand i'd like to have asap, i cant wait for this game to come out!
forza 2 is still rocking, i have shadowrun staring at me from inside of an unopened package, and i havent had the urge to pull forza 2 out of the disc drive... yet.
Yes I have that setting in the dashboard but it didn't do anything in the demo.
Could you point out where that setting is in the dashboard? Didnt see it when i checked. Thanks
Is there an option to change the controls in this game? There wasn't in the demo so i'm not sure i would enjoy it.
I like to have down/up shift on the triggers, and gas/brake/ebrake on the face buttons. this comes from years and years of GT on psx..
You can change it in game, just not in the demo.
AHDTVDiet 06-03-07, 01:52 PM One thing I like about this game that I had wished was in PGR3.
If you are having trouble with a race in PGR3 and you get frustrated and go out and buy the best car there is you go back to the race and most of the opponents now have vehicles that are equal or better then yours (unless you got that boring GT then its just equal).
In this game if you are having trouble with a race, you know what your opponents have so you can go out and buy or upgrade your car so that it is better and as long as it meets the race requirements you are good to go. But in this game it is not always the best car that wins either as there is a lot of skillful driving involved. So I can race an A class car against some C class car and still get beat if my A class car has crpy handling (either by me or bad tuning\parts selection).
Now there are some instances where this makes it a blow out. Especially on races where there are not a lot of turns. Playing in NA when I got my first asian car it was like a class C or something (dont remember at the moment) I went and raced the asian open which were all D class cars. As long as I didnt wipe out I was golden. In fact in a few sections I did wipe out but still was able to recover enough to win. Its nice to have the easy races in there with the hard ones.
One of the bad features of this game is the car buying menus. You can show the car list and you can sort by what you want (both good) but if you select one car to look at decide you dont want it and hit back you dont go back to the car list. If you hit "car list" it only shows you cars of the manufacturer whos menu you are in. So you have to go all the way back out to all regions, select car list again, find they item you want to sort by again and then sort. It would be nice if you could just go back to the last list you were on so that you can compare cars quickely. Oh well beggers cant be choosers I guess.
DerekinMerrick 06-03-07, 07:22 PM OK. I got forza 2 and its a pretty cool game. I got a the wheel and everything. But I cant really play this game for too long before I get bored. Am I the only one? I thought it would be a little more action packed. I kinda agree that the game is about cars and less about racing.

You're the only one. Sell it on Ebay. Car sims are not for you.

I disagree with you but it definitely is not a game for everyone. I could just race around an empty track (I have the wheel as well) and totally feel like I am actually on the track.
There isn't really any action, just the suspense of biding your time to make that pass for first place. You can't try to win a race on the first turn with this game. You need patience. Any time I try to get to agressive going into a corner on the inside, I am always on the losing end of things.

First when I had my crpy car I thought the game was harder and could only wreck people out to win (single player).
Then I started getting some good cars and was racing them against outclassed cars so then I thought the game was simple and could see how it would get boring.
THEN I started getting into races that require you have specific types of cars and some of the opponents were definitely not outclassed and it took some work to get cars setup just right for the race to be at least even with those other drivers. Then the races were back and forth affairs with someone passing me on the last stretch (frustrating) or me taking someone at the last turn or boxing them out on the last stretch (elating).
I played this game all weekend and am not yet bored with it but I could see how some people may become so.
Picked this up the other day. The graphics are better than the demo, they definitely got rid of the jaggies.
I suggest starting on professional, no braking assistance needed!

no that is a very valid statement. Try searching for all Mid Engine RWDs. Not easy.
newfmp3 06-04-07, 11:10 AM jaggies are still there, there is no difference, Man how long is this arguement going to go on for? it is just worse on some cars then others.
Anyways, does this game get challenging? I'm at level 15, japanese region. I started on intermediate and thinking it should be on hard because even with stock cars I'm flying through it. I didn't need to buy car yet. I haven't even had to tune a car yet...well, actually I had to tune my crappy camaro a bit.

There's definitely a big difficulty jump between intermediate & champion. I started playing on Champion and it was a struggle to get a third place finish, even when I had the highest ranked car. Then last night I switched to intermediate for a few races and managed to grab 1st in every race, even when I was outclassed by a few other cars.
JimsArcade 06-04-07, 12:37 PM A feature I wish was in Forza2 is a list of all your discounts for easy reference. I've got so many that I don't remember most of them. For example, I believe I obtained a discount on wheel rims, but only from a certain shop. (Please correct me if I'm wrong about the details of this discount.) Days later, I'm looking for some new rims, but there are dozen of shops and it's a waste of time trying to hunt down this particular place. Another example is the part category discounts.
If there is such a list, how do I find it? If not, I'm surprised no one at Turn 10 thought this would be a helpful convenience.
KLUNKDM 06-04-07, 01:03 PM For those that are getting bored of the game, I see the game as this.......Off-Line is just getting used to the game, buying cars and getting ready for the real fun.....On-line is were all the fun is......Just finding a car that you really like to use, tuning it, painting it and then racing your creation against others and seeing there cars they made is just to cool to me.......I thing the tournaments are a great addition also. Just find some friends that like the game and have fun racing them............
DerekinMerrick 06-04-07, 01:31 PM I have not tried online yet. I will give it a shot.
BassTek 06-04-07, 01:39 PM Online is good, with good people. I had a few good games and quite a few bad ones. Make sure to stay away from the cosmetic damage games if you want anything close to a realistic experience.

Press your right bumper at the Career menu screen.
Jeff Flowerday 06-04-07, 02:34 PM Difficulty? I started on intermediate but found it too easy so I started tweaking the difficulty settings.
Is champion just all difficulty settings set to the hardest? I assume so since their aren't different achievements for each level, it just takes longer with the difficulty set too easy.

The aliasing is MUCH improved on the retail version. I'm not sure why you would even try to deny it. It's been said over and over on this forum as well as all the Forza forums. You seem to be in denial about this.
As for the difficutly, that's why there are 3 difficulty levels to choose from.

Did you finish the game yet and do you have a screenshot of 100% completion? Otherwise don't even speak about the difficulty if you haven't completed it. The difficulty ramps up slowly even at intermediate.

Wow! Are you serious?
I was asking a legit question, not bragging, I wanted to understand the differences. I haven't come close to finishing and yes I'm now getting my butt kicked as I turned up the difficulty, but that has nothing to do with original question.
whiskey > work 06-04-07, 09:03 PM this game is the ultimate! Earlier I was playing and having a blast and then I just decided to fart around with the paint jobs. Man I could do this forever. Is Forza a good enough reason to dump a girl?

The Keither 06-05-07, 09:03 AM Question for those of you who have gotten farther in the game. Are there any NEW tracks in FM2 versus Forza 1?
Just starting the game and it just seems as this is FM1 with a new coat of paint. Am I wrong here?
Kinda disappointed actually :(
Thanks.
StreetPreacher 06-05-07, 09:51 AM Sebring is new
Mugello is new
Suzuka is new
They wanted to focus more on real life locations this time, so they added these and removed a few of the fantasy tracks...

I will admit that Sebring felt new, but I thought it was there before. Suzuka, or something VERY close to it was definitely in 1.
Please, I am not trying to argue with you (umm....too much :) ). I guess my expectations for a sequel were just too high.
Thanks for your reply. I will play a bit longer with it. Perhaps new things will pop out at me.
abuharabi 06-05-07, 11:29 AM I finally got my Amazon copy last night. This might be the most fun I've EVER had in a game. I got a huge smile on my face, remembering how my buddies and I used to play GT2 when we were in college. I didn't play the first Forza, so I don't need any flames on the GT comparison :) I sure have begun to wonder, however, how much better this game would be with the wheel. The dexterity required from my fingers just might be too much!! Freakin' awesome game.

I was a GT4 addict back in the day (which was a Wednesday, by the way) Now that I have a 360, I've considered getting this game, and was wondering how it compared. I like racing and not spending half the time buying/selling/customizing cars, which some people have said is a lot of what makes up this game. For those that have played both, how would you rate them for a playability standpoint? I don't care about graphics differences or anything, but simply whether or not this game is fun to play.
newfmp3 06-06-07, 10:40 AM the lack of good tracks is my largest complaint so far. The fantasy tracks are the ones I liked the most from F1. Why does every game need the same darn tracks? I feel like I'm playing the same game over and over.

well those liscense tests in GTurismo were about as fun as watering plants. (although they helped me to learn console sim driving techniques)
You don't have to spend oodles of time buying and customizing cars. The perks come sweeter and faster in FM2, than in GT. You will frequently get cars, $$, and discount parts, unlike GT, where making money becomes a chore.
As with any game, you will eventually hit a wall if you don't upgrade your character to meet the upcoming competition.
The only tuning I've done is dampen my classic muscle cars to the ground, so they look better!
All in all, I've had more fun here so far. I have the money and cars in a week, that I would have in GT in a month... and I've spent most of my time decaling! But if you only want to race, then just race...no one is stopping you.

Yea I was wondering that last night myself.....
Atleast there are a few variations to each one which make it feel different.
RobertR1 06-06-07, 11:56 AM I want more real tracks! Give me Infenion raceway and Spa-Francochamps. Perhaps even add Monaco. That'd kick ass.

Great! Thanks for the input. Your last comment was most important, nothing is stopping you from just racing, as opposed to almost an RPG like experience where more time is spent dealing with car issues than racing. I'm glad to hear this game has both aspects covered without one stopping you from doing the other.

I'd pay $100 for this game if it included Road America, Mid-Ohio, Monaco, and Spa.

Despite the fact that all the tuning options and decals/painting customization are there if you want them you really can do more racing than the GT series since your eligibility is promoted through the leveling system rather than license tests. If you have Live you can even download the top racers' setups from the scoreboards and forego the tuning process entirely.

Regarding gameplay, I believe Forza delivers better physics and better AI than the GT series. Having been a GT fan myself, I find myself having more fun with Forza than I did with GT, if anything because of the above factors.

I agree. Oddly, I find myself putting a ton of time into detailing and decaling my cars. When I first read about this game I thought, "Why waste my time on painting?" Then I realized that when I won an ugly car....I could easily change a lot about it. All in all this game is super fun.

I agree. Add all that with damage models and how both that and upgrades drastically effect the way your car drives, looks, and sounds on the track keeps me coming back for more, night after night.

That's a great point. In GT, if you win an ugly car, you're stuck with it! Unless you sell it or race a particular series again in hopes of winning a different color.
KLUNKDM 06-06-07, 01:42 PM GT's are great games and I was a big fan, but I started to get board of them. When Forza came out I got it and I am all about Forza now. Forza 2 is just Forza with some cooler stuff added. I love it just as much. But what I love is racing on-line and that is were I will spend most of my time. In Forza I played long enough to buy a skyline and I tuned it to be a B-Class racer and from then on I just raced on-line. I never played off-line again. I didn't care about unlocking cars and stuff, because I had the car I loved racing and just had a blast racing real people. I race with simulation damage, so you don't have to worry as much about people just running into you at full speed in every corner just to pass (Games with no damage were like this and I think it is just too cheap of a way to pass)
You guys have convinced me, going to pick it up tonight after work. My wife will kill me if I become as addicted to this game as I did GT4 a few years ago. I can't wait for the "aren't you too old for this stuff" comment to come about:)

OpenMindGamer 06-06-07, 04:21 PM HA! Great stories guys!
I totally agree you can go as deep as you want into the tuning but it's not necessary, theTeam, Race Tuned cars you win are awesome just as they are, easy to win and gratifying to win as well. You could just stick with those cars (Like the VIS Integra you can get early on) and still keep up with the guys that like to tune/upgrade to the max.
abuharabi 06-06-07, 04:52 PM You guys have convinced me, going to pick it up tonight after work. My wife will kill me if I become as addicted to this game as I did GT4 a few years ago. I can't wait for the "aren't you too old for this stuff" comment to come about:)
Prepare to get nothing done around the house :D However, letting her paint and design car decals might get you out of hot water.
Shizelbs 06-06-07, 06:59 PM I got mine yesterday, but I ordered it through Amazon.
