Hello all,

Posted this in a different section and was advised to try this section instead.

I have a Sony 50" SXRD that is currently sitting on an Ikea Oppli TV bench. I am interested in getting rid of my tower speakers to free up some floor space and will most likely go to bookshelf speakers. The problem is that I have no more room on the TV bench. I am thinking of getting another Oppli Bench and stacking them, inverted if you can visualize it. Do you guys forsee any problems that I may have in terms of stability? The bench alone is pretty solid so I would assume it would be fine. Also thinking of installing some U brackets and some cloudy plexiglass to cover some of the components. Thoughts?

I'd be concerned that height of the TV would be too high for optimum viewing. Rear projection TV's like the SXRD (I have the 60") require a fairly level viewing angle. I have the same stand for my 60 and the height is prefect. I can't imagine doubling the height without adjusting the seating height accordingly. The 50 may tolerate a slightly higher viewing position.

I suggest somehow testing the proposed height first.

Edit - from your picture it doesn't look like the set is rear projection so maybe the viewing angle is more forgiving.
