Should I bother with the Blu-Ray version of Avia? or just stick with the good old DVD that seems to work so well?

Seems you'd only be testing your disc player's 720p=>1080i capabilities, and have to wonder what a sideconverted 720p resolution test pattern would look like on a 1080p display that resolves the 'true' 1080/24p resolution pattern fully. Anyone know whether this disc includes the SMPTE #?? test pattern used to determine whether 540p bobbing is taking place? Thanks. -- John Michael TLV 05-31-07, 09:53 AM Greetings Many displays treat 1080 and 720 as different animals ... and have different memory locations for each. There are enough overlapping patterns between the two sections of the disc to verify if the 720 stuff is working the same as the 1080p stuff. On my displays ... the 720 grayscale patterns for instance looked the same as the 1080p ones. (after normalizing for the user control stuff.) Nice thing about static patterns ... hard to deintelace them wrong. :) Regards jkcheng122 05-31-07, 03:47 PM Should I bother with the Blu-Ray version of Avia? or just stick with the good old DVD that seems to work so well? is blu-ray Avia, or any blu-ray calibration disc, available yet? |
