I just took my projector out of a box and shined it on one of my bare walls just to make sure everything was in working order.
I have only used the hdmi connection so far. Hooked it up to an upconverting dvd player as well as my hd dvr box. When I pressed on the hdmi icon on the controller, it only reads 1920x540 60hz I believe.
Anyone know why it's not displaying at least 720p or 1080i when it was connected to either device? Is there something I'm missing?
thanks

Your DVD player may be only outputting 540, though that would be odd. Which DVD player do you have? My Oppo 970 has a toggle button that cycles through 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i outputs, you should try to find a comparable option on your DVD player (or pick up an Oppo : ) and try the component outs on your DVD player as well, maybe the thing only outputs upconverting through components, which is opposite what almost all other players do...

Set your devices to 720p if you can.
DVDO+WESTY=1080p

your projector is not properly deinterlacing 1080i signals set all signals to 720p. early westinghouse lcd's do this as well

Can someone please tell me how to fix this either on the projector end or the other?
I can't actually set my hd dvr box to output 720p that I know of. My regular tv is a 1080p set so the box automatically displays in 1080i so I don't know why the projector isn't picking up on the same signal. All I'm doing is taking the hdmi cord out of the tv and putting it into the back of the projector.
I don't know what resolution the dvd puts out on the tv.......how do I check that?
Which brand HD DVR box and what provider?

I think that you can set the output of the Scientific Atlanta 8300
It's in the output mode, like upconvert 1 or upconvert 2
You might want to try to play with the settings to see if you get 720p

I did see those tonight but didn't bother them. Guess I can try that. Also something else I noticed tonight. My projector won't recognize my PS3 over hdmi but it recognizes the other items. Really odd.

There's nothing to fix, just send it 1080i. The Mfg's choice to scale it the way it does ergo Ti's 1chip solution - scales a very fine picture. The Mits HD1000 probably scales the same way.

Maybe you're right.

Well first of all the HD70 is only capable of projecting 720p. It's impossible that it is outputting any other resolution. That must be the signal you are receiving from your source, then it is being scaled to 720p.
