The title says it all. Is Mitsubishi HD1000U same as the HC1100?

No, the HC1100 does not have the clear segment that the HD1000 has. It's also less bright with better colours. Other than that, they seem pretty close.

The HC1100 is only available in Europe / Asia, and the HD1000 only in North America.

Tell me about it. I am really confused here as to what to buy for my Infocus 4805 upgrade. The HC3100, which I really want has no ETA nor it is certain if it ever comes to the US market.

www.cine4home.com has a good review of 1100 and compares it to the 3000. 1100 is better It also compares it to the 3100 which is obviously better.

I have the HC1100; close to 8 months now.

I have seen both the HD1000 and the HC1100 and can tell you that there are more similarities than differences. However, a few things stand out. The HC1100 has a slightly bigger color space due to the absence of a clear segment and it's reds are more red, less orange than the HD1000. Otherwise, I imagine that there wouldn't be too much to compain about in either model. They are superbly designed units and give you a spectacular image when set up right.

The HC1100 shares the same colour wheel as the HC3100 which has a larger red segment for more accurate colours than HD1000/HC3000.
No clear segment on the HC1100. Other than that it's identical to the HD1000. I've had an imported HC1100 for 6 months and it's great.

Where are you guys importing the HC1100 /HC3100 from?

The only site that used to sell these imports unfortunately no longer stocks projectors, only screens and accessories. My advice to anyone thinking about a first time pj is to go for the HD1000 because it is simply the best unit one can find in it's price point. If you can find one, however, I would recommend the 1100 over the 1000 for reasons mentioned above.
