Purchased set in early 2005, In April, 2007 message to replace bulb. Purchased bulb but didn't replace it until early May, 2007. When I opened the bulb area there was glass shards on the mirror. Glass was very this with a green tint. I vacuumed the area gently and inserted the new bulb. Then the screen slowly went darkened. Called JVC obtained service ph# and out they came for a charge of $155.00. Took the set in. Service man said not uncommon that this set's light engine goes bad after approx 2yr but that a new one would last much longer. 10 days later service company called and said yes, the light engine was bad and they would fix it for an add'l $950. I told them to return unfixed! I and my son are qualified to repair if we can find the part and some info on JVC kight engines. Are there refurbished light engines available? Anybody had any experience with a similar problem?

I think you posted this in the wrong forum. The Jvc Hd-61z585 is not a front projector.
