i have a 50" samsung dlp 720p tv, the 5067w model from 2005. i have a ps3 as my blu-ray player hooked up directly to tv via hdmi and ps3 is set to 720p.
after calibration according to the instructions given, i end up with these settings:
Contrast: 90
Brightness: 56
Sharpness: 0 (this seems to have no effect on HDMI and Component)
Color: 50
i have my color tone set at normal as i found cool1 to be overly blueish and warm1 too yellowish.
my problem is this, after calibrating, it feels as tho contrast is too high as many scenes (including some of the opening green preview screen) seem to make me have to squint when watching movies with lights turned off. the settings were made under the same lighting conditions. i also found when i did have the lights on, the contrast setting is still the same when using the instructions given in avia for setting contrast (raise contrast to one level below where the bar white moving bar would disappear).
setting the color tone to warm1 seem to remedy this, but as i said whites look yellowish at this setting. should i just adjust the brightness setting to my eyes' liking regardless of what avia tells me to set it?
