Why not research the Mitsubishi HD1000. It is less than $1000 and is getting good reviews.

I own the DV10 and the only reason you would want to pick it is because of its portability. It is extremely easy to move around and set up in new locations for showing a movie. But if you'll be permanently mounting the projector, there are better choices for about the same amount of money, with the HD1000 right at the top of the list.

Having said that, we love the DV10. It's been on vacation, to friends' homes and outside for movie nights. It's exceptionally easy to set up and use and the built in speakers and DVD player make it a great party machine. I used it for the Super Bowl as well as the NHL playoffs. If you like the thought of portability, you might want to think about this projector.

If you decide to go with the Dv10, then you won't need that whole grand. It's shouldn't cost you any more than $600 before taxes.

The audio from your signal source (cable box, sat receiver, dvd player, etc) will be connected to your sound system - you will need a receiver. No sound goes to the PJ.

Don't look at the projector like a TV. It is more like a computer monitor. Just feed the video signal to the PJ and the audio signal to a surround sound receiver. Some receivers are good enough to pass the video through them and they will switch both the video and audio and send the signal to the PJ. If you get a cheaper receiver, then connect the video cable (DVI, HDMI, Component etc.) directly to the PJ. The speakers will be connected to the receiver. Does this help?
