Hi,

I will be getting my TV calibrated this weekend. I would like to compare how some movie scenes look before vs after the calibration. I am more interested in the changes to the grayscale, especially in darker scenes. I have a Panny 50PX60.

Thanks

Greetings

Any movie would do.

If it's pure grayscale and nothing else. .. then grab a black and white flick like casablanca.

Although B/W flicks should be calibrated to a different color temp than the NTSC standard D6500.

All you will see is a difference.

Like a guy coming to give you the correct answer to the question 2 + 2 = ?

Answer is 4 ...

You might have been staring at the wrong answer before. Maybe it was 5 ... maybe 9 ...

All you'd know is that 5 is different than 4. But that does not change the fact that the answer is still 4 and not 5 or 9 or any other number.

Yes ... you will likely see a difference ... maybe a lot ... maybe a little, but it should be irrelevant since the grayscale is supposed to be set to one standard.

greetings

B/W films use 5400K ... or roughly x 0.333, y 0.333 ... the "E" point on the curve.

This emulates the lightbulb used in the projector at the theater.

Unlike color where we cannot get HD colors to match film colors since film simply has many more colors.

But on just B/W material ... B/W is B/W :D
