We bought a NOS pioneer pdp-4304 about 1.5 months ago and hung it in the VP's office. We upgraded his cable to a digital cable plan and currenly use component inputs (no hdmi outs from the cable box).

He brought it to my attention today that sporadically the tv will turn itself off and when he tries to turn it back on, it'll display "Warning, speaker NG, shutdown (5)" then shuts back off. Eventually after a couple tries, it will turn on and work fine for awhile. No other problems reported.

Any ideas? Any tech manuals? Am electronics savy but not familiar at all with TV products. Thanks ~Rich

Sorry I haven't heard of this, but you should call Pioneer and ask them (800) 421-1404 .

Good luck and let us know what they say.

Just got off the phone with the pioneer warranty repair center - says the error indicates a possible fault in the internal amplification circuit. Fault could also be caused by anomalies in AC power... suggested an AC line conditioner may be helpful.

Initial recommended action: Unplug for 20 mins to get rid of static buildup in the unit. If problem persists, send in for repair.

He said in this unit the amplifier is integrated so there's no way to shut it off.

:( - hope it works. Will keep you posted. ~Rich

The problem is the audio output IC LA4625. Replace it and it should work ok.
If you need help let me know.

I have a Pioneer PDP-4304 that I recently purchased from a friend to see if I can fix. It will not turn on (including the cooling fans). The only thing that happens is the red LED light comes on. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

I have a Pioneer PDP-4304. I love my Plasma TV. It is about 4 years old. Rarely, when there is a picture with the lines going at a certain angle, distortions appear. Not black lines, but about 4 distortions, about 1/2 inch wide, in certain areas of the screen, from top to bottom. It is what you would expect from water dripping from top to bottom. I noticed this problem
last while watching The Tudors on Showtime. I have cleaned the screen
with a special cleaner for plasma TV's. My warranty was only for a
year, so I'm screwed as far as that is concerned. All of my research
talks about black bands. Not this clear phenonoma. Does anyone have
any idea what caused this? A fix would be much appreciated. Thanks.
