Hi

I've been enjoying my Yamaha DPX1100 DLP for what seems like ages now. Its been at least as long since I last bothered to do any projector related research so I'm completely clueless. I also have an upcoming bulb replacement for the Yamaha which will cost me £450, it made sense to me to at least look at upgrading to a 1080p machine but I don't where to start.

I have no preference for DLP, LCD or any other technology. I believe they're all at a state to be considered equally compelling. What does bother me is budget. I have around £1500-2000(about $3000-3800) to spend.

What machines, both current and upcoming, should I be looking at? I really would like the JVC HD1 but its rather expensive.

Also consider that I don't want to buying a machine that has superior resolution to my existing Yamaha DPX1100 but worse in the more important areas such as colour balance, image naturalness etc.

Thanks chaps!

Most people in that price range would be looking at some of the new 1080p LCD projectors or perhaps spending a bit more for a 1080p DLP. Here are my suggestions

www.projectoreviews.com has a great 1080p comparison review and www.cine4home.com and www.audioholics.com are all good review sites
