Need to know whether I have a brand new set or not. The lamp hours could be easily reset by the seller.

Infocus publishes the RS232 codes so you can read all about the lamp life. You could also ask your seller to have it sent to Infocus and have lamp life documented. You could ask them to check the SN registration to see if it is actually new or used, when it was sold to distributor and first sold from dealer and registered by user.
