Hi,

I am sure this is a very common question and probably posted all over the board already. Being a female and clueless to this stuff, I have a question in regards to HDMI cables for in-wall installation.

I purchased a Philips 37" LCD for my wall in my bedroom. I purchased 20' of the CL2 24 AWG from Best Buy - yeah, i am a sucker! After getting home and opening the package, I see they sold me 30 feet for $140...

There is glitter static on the TV so I switched back to the cable that you would use for the stand. Glitter gone. I am taking the cable back and now see them on MonoPrice for practically free from what I paid!

My question is, am I safe to purchase one of the following to stay within code, etc for in wall installation and if so, which one should I order? They do not have 28AWG listed on the site available and I see that the 24 is much thicker. I am very paranoid of the whole fire thing bc Best Buy hammered that to try and sell me on their professional installation.

-HDMI DVI Tin-Plated Copper CL2 Rated (For In-Wall Installation) Cable (24AWG) - 25ft

-HDMI DVI Tin-Plated Copper CL2 Rated (For In-Wall Installation) Cable (26AWG) - 25ft

Any advice is much appreciated!
Chrissy

1) Welcome to the forum!
2) Being a female is no handicap when it comes to home theaters.
3) Don't worry about a fire, you have a better chance of your house getting hit by lightning- twice. Salesmen on commission are scum, it's as simple as that. They'll scare the crap out of people for a couple of bucks extra pay.
4) I think the 26AWG would be fine, but it can't hurt to get the bigger cable just in case. It's not much more money and you already had problems

Thanks - I think I will go for the 24 AWG cable.

If you still have a problem with the 25 footer it may be that your sending unit is a little weak. I had a similar problem with a 10M DVI cable and an Oppo DVD player. I installed a Gefen DVI switcher that boosted the signal to standard and it solved my problem.
